I don't know why, but practice, practice, practice.  Start w/ a deck of cards.  Using about 12 cards even amount of red & black.  Start w/ the simple is this the red/black card?  then move on to diamond/hearts or spades/clubs, then on to numbers.  You can even use those picture cards preschollers use for pictures, words & letters.  Also, make sure she has her own pendulum.  My pendulum only works with me.  I tell people to use what is close to them (i.e. a ring on a cotton thread or a necklace that you wear).  Borrowing someone else's pendulum usually doesn't work.  I feel a pendulum is a personal thing & you should use your own, especially if you are a beginner.  Or maybe she is using the wrong one.  Amersyst is a wonderful one or maybe one of her birthstone.  One that is personal to her.  Good luck & would love to here the results

Not much activity on this.  I have a question.  I have several granddaughters that are interested in metaphysical things.  The little one can work a pendulum very well (9 years old), but the just older one can't.  Can anyone give me an idea why that would be?

Hi everyone, I just joined and I've had a rose quartz pendulum for a while now with no real clue how to use it. I can't wait to learn more about the tools I've bought

The tree that the dowsing group talked to was only about 20 years old, the community center they met in was part of a redevelopement that included landscaping and "tree", but the dowsers had always met there so they were part of "tree's" reality.

@ Steve hawkins...what a beautiful story about the "village tree".  I live here in Brooklyn, NY.  We don't have a "village tree".  I heard a tree grew here once, but I have no idea where it is.  But seriously, I do believe old trees have wisdom.  Most of the trees in my neighborhood are newly planted, so maybe one day they will grow up to be "wise old trees"

I made the pendulum of black quartz, 8 years ago I lived in Melbourne and was in the Victorian Dowsing Society. I got taught tree dowsing with pendulum , L rods and Y rod. Tree dowsing is the introduction to dowsing, the man who was teaching me died but when he taught he used the same tree so the tree knew what to do; we couldn't walk near without the car keys rattling! Car keys work well as a pendulum!

I was part of a group having a conversation with him and he mentioned that in the village he grew up in in england there was an old oak in the middle of town and the old families of the town used to  talk to it, and dowse answers from it, the tree was hundreds of years old. He said even today he could get answers from that tree from the other side of the world just by thinking of the old oak, perhaps the tradition of a "village tree" is something the younger generation could pick up on where ever they live on the planet.

I'm new to pendulum users, I have had some training here in Australia in tree dowsing with pendulum, L rods and Y rod, my current pendulum is a black quartz crystal that I found myself.

@Gypsy Raven.. I love the graphic you put up. Beautiful. I like Richard Webster's Candle Magic for Beginners too. I agree, he does put things so you can understand them. Off hand I don't know where to go to find a good pendulum at a good price, but I have seen some sites online that have some nice ones at good prices... It just occured to me.. Try Azure Green. They have an online catalog and you can request one to be mailed to you. They have some neat stuff at reasonable prices.  Have a good evening.
