About Me:
I am a widowed, differently-abled, semi-retired, photographer and graphic artist. In my previous life (before Charcot-Marie-Tooth Syndrome), I was a personal trainer, fitness specialist, strength coach, and athletic trainer (I still have the T-shirts to prove it). Vocational rehabilitation re-introduced me to photography and other artistic pursuits. I lost my mate of 13 odd years (some more odd than others) a few years ago. I like to think of myself of Celtic origin since I have mostly an Irish and Welsh background.

I am a tall (6'4", 6"5" with the hardware on and a lot shorter when I use the wheels), hairy bear with long dark brown hair, a salt'n'pepper beard (variable - it seems to change on its own), hazel eyes (which also seem to change on their own), some ink (two dragon tattoos, so far), and some metal (pierced ears and nipples, among other things).

Favorite Books
I do not know if I have a favorite. I have read every text book I have ever had from cover to cover. However, I do not claim to remember or even understand everything they contained. I have enjoyed almost every book on photography I have read. I also like the Harry Potter series and the Vampire Chronicle (old and new); I am sorry if that disappoints some people. I like other vampire, werewolf, witch, "mythology", and occult books, too. I like science fiction and fact. Lately, I have been reading a lot about Pagan, Celtic, and Irish history, culture, and ancestory. I participated in the National Geographic Genographic Project and, like everyone else, could be descended from Irish Kings.

This is my Samhaine Blessing

Posted on September 23, 2008 at 7:30pm 0 Comments

The Wheel turns to Summer's End, Let the old year go and the new one begin, Let new hopes grow and old wounds mend,
Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.

John, Celtic Vision

Happy New Year!

Lughnasadh Blessing

Posted on July 12, 2008 at 6:28pm 0 Comments

With the turning of the Wheel, Lughnasadh is now here,

From the fields and trees, come the first fruits to bear,

With family, loved-ones, partners, and friends so dear,

When you break bread this day, you should have a care,

And thank Nature first for whatever bounty came this year,

Return the first crust to the Earth and all blessings share.

Here comes the Solstice of Summer,
And with its coming, turns the Wheel.
Now is the time to celebrate as a mummer,
And tell your loved ones how you feel.

Please be merry this Mid-Summer's Eve,
Have no dark thoughts and put ill-will at bay.
In peace, let everyone together cleave,
And blessed be on Mid-Summer's Day.

Edward Lorenz | 1917-2008

Edward Lorenz is gone, and so another prophet dies;
Effects he knew of Chaos, and the wings of butterflies.
Please do not weep for him, let not let a single teardrop fall;
Lest you cause another Flood, with which to drown us all.

Feds Say Teen Use of Pot Leads to Mental Illness

by Jennifer C. Kerr, Associated Press

Depression, teens and marijuana are a dangerous mix that can lead to dependency, mental illness or suicidal thoughts, according to a White House report being released Friday.

A teen who has been depressed at some point in the past year is more than twice as likely to have used marijuana as teens who have not reported being depressed - 25 percent compared with 12 percent, said… Continue
