You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

What Tarot Card are You?

The season of the year, after youth has passed away,
The colored leaves shall waltz, until at last they lay.
Alone each must dance, and foretell of coming glory.
Autumn's beauty giving hope in an unfolding story.
A hope of eternal life, beyond what the eye can see,
A promised resurrection, and God who holds the key.
The cycle will continue, till she blooms again at last,
Through the season's cycle, we may find hope in autumns passed.

Charge of the Goddess

Written by Doreen Valiente, who took parts of this from "Aradia: Gospel of the Witches" by Charles Leland. This version is found in "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk, and is generally the most popular version used.

Listen to the words of the Great Mother, who of old was called Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Ceridwen, Diana, Arionrhod, Brigid, and by many other names:

"Whenever you have need of anything, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, you shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of Me who is Queen of all the Wise. You shall be free from slavery, and as a sign that you be free you shall be naked in all your rites. Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in My presence, for Mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and Mine also is joy on earth. For My law is love unto all beings. Mine is the secret that opens upon the door of youth, and Mine is the cup of wine of life that is the cauldron of Ceridwen, that is the holy grail of immortality. I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal and beyond death I give peace and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before. Nor do I demand aught of sacrifice, for behold, I am the mother of all things and My love is poured upon the earth."

Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, whose body encircles the universe:

"I who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters, I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me. For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe. From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return. Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold-- all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals. Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And you who seek to know Me, know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without. For behold, I have been there with you from the beginning, and I am that which is attained at the end of all desire."

To take from the Earth..
is to nourish thy self and others.

To feel the Wind..
is to be free and enjoy all life.

To light a Flame..
is to find your way in the dark.

To dance in the Rain..
is to bathe in the tears she can no longer hold back.

To know the Spirit..
is to take in all Elements and live life in harmony.

Do you know the Spirit?

Moon Invocation
by Autumn Rose, copyright 2002

Mother, Goddess of moon and star,
Bring your presence from afar,
Manifest on this, Your night,
and bless me in this sacred rite!
Grant the knowledge and clarity,
to understand Your words to me.
Lend Your power, send Your light,
Aid me in my work tonight!
With love and wisdom please embrace,
All within this sacred space.
Mother, I now call to you,
Bring Your message clear and true!

Invocation to the Three-Fold One

by Seleneicthon, from "Spokes of the Wheel", © 1979

Maiden, Maiden, robed in light
Rejoice with us, this Sabbat night
Beauty Thy shield, and love Thy sword
Hath vanquished even death's dark Lord.
We bow before Thy gentle might.

Thy youthful joy doth never fade
Be welcome, oh Crone, sweet Mother, and Maid!

Mother Goddess, clad in green
Our circle Thy court, oh gracious Queen
All that lives comes forth from Thee
And dying returns - as the drop to the sea.
Rule Heaven, rule Hell, and the wide worlds between.

Thy lunar crown will light our scene,
Come and bless us Old Crone, sweet Maiden, and Queen.

Ancient Crone, in tatters old
Thy lore is bitter, Thy rede is cold
In wisdom fabled beyond our ken
Thou holdest wake over Gods and men
Then layest them down, to rest, in the mould.

With Thy wisdom be with us - Maid, Mother, and Crone!

Who’s A Witch?

October 19th, 2001
Copyright 2001, H.P. Jacobus

Nary a man a Witch can be
nor Witch a Wizard, don’t you see?
For t’was thus ordained above,
this great natural law called Love
that from man to woman is the flow
and as such, always has been so.

Into whose hands are babies born
and who gathers the eggs on frosty morn?
T’is she who knows the herb that cures.
and guess who, that trusty cauldron stirs.
Comes now the Woman of the Moon;
it’s Her planter’s orb in June.

By wind and fire, rain and earth,
all God’s creatures know Her worth.
All that live are born in strife,
But She’s the One who nurtures life.
Thank you Goddess for the Witches
By just their being, our life enriches.

Think not there’s something I’ve forgotten;
it’s the fact that we ‘re all begotten
You see, from that piece of Adam’s rib
comes the hand that rocks the crib.
Surely there’s one thing now we know.
"Move over Wizard; it’s Her show."

Know Thyself
Close my eyes and it begins
The world unfolds with hope within
Captured by the hidden rhaspody
Of which I wish I could always be
Ensnared in the feeling of hope
No longer needing to just cope
A circle cast amongst the star
From which my heart is never far
Calling upon the five elements' grace
Feeling as though I'm finally in place
Air, I call, come to me
The wind lifts me up and sets me free
Water, I plea, come to me
Comforting sounds of the ocean and sea
Earth, I shout, come to me
I taste the sweet gifts from a berry
Fire, I summon, come to me
Heat surges through and gives me energy
Spirit, I say, come to me
Suddenly- I know who is this 'me'

I look out a window
With my eyes closed tight
Seeing the trees sway in the wind
A lovely sight
Of a forest full of trees
Untouched by man
Only seen by me
The animals scurry to and fro
Frolicking and hopping
Some stay asleep in their homes
The wind sweeps
Through the trees
And lifts me off my feet
I see the animals
Grazing quietly
In a peaceful, melancholy way
Knowing something I don’t know
The tears tear me away
For as I slip out of my daydream
When I open my eyes I know
That despite my efforts
I’ll really look out the window
And there I will not see
The lovely sight
I had once seen
But I open my eyes
Brace myself
And look to the streets below
And instead of seeing
The beautiful trees
I see nothing but pavement
And dirty snow
As people walk around
Without a care
To what they’ve destroyed
The animals, the forests
And themselves…
I know…

This spell can be said anytime. Works well by accentuating with a bell or any instrument that makes a high ringing sound... such as a wind chime. Ring the bell one time after each phrase. This can also be done in a group, where one person says a line, and then the line is repeated by the group, followed by the words "So it be!."
(state intention: _____________)
Ariel begins it.
Baradiel guides it.
The Chalkydri sing it.
Devas manifest it.
Elohim wills it.
The Fravashi better it.
Bagriel brings it.
The Hafaza watch it.
The Ischim blalance it.
Jael guards it.
Kadmiel births it.
Lahabiel aids it.
Michael raises it.
Nebo ministers it.
Ofaniel sees it.
Patron Angels devote it.
The Queen of Angels speaks it.
Raphael inspires it.
Sandalphon prays it.
Thrones sanctify it.
Uriel strengthens it.
Vrevoil reveals it.
Watchers protect it.
Xathanael patrons it.
Yahriel places the glory of the moon on it.
Zodiac Angels seal it.
And Spirit brings it through time and space.

So be it.
And so it be!

Seal in the air with the sign of the equal-armed cross using your dominant hand.
