So about a month ago I logged in to Facebook and my Facebook friends were talking about ghosts and dreams and ish. One I found particularly interesting was that they said they could have lucid dreams on command and it sounded like the coolest thing ever. They bragged about adventures, one said they do it just to paint and it was cool. I threw in my creepiest sleep paralysis experiences (because, oddly enough, I really wanted to contribute to the conversation) and they actually recommended that I try to have a lucid dream and they gave me the steps to do it which is basically meditating while laying down until I become paralyzed and I go to sleep.

I don't know if I just really suck at meditating (which I wouldn't doubt because that honestly requires more focus than I can muster) but it never worked. I tried night after night for a week and I was never able to go beyond that. I in the end decided that it isn't that big a deal if it works so I stopped trying. I still tried from time to time but it didn't bother me that it didn't work. But then very recently happened.

I was laying down, I wasn't even thinking about that stuff I just wanted to go to bed and relax. After staring at the ceiling and then I had sleep paralysis. It was so random I wasn't even sleeping so my body didn't have any reason to think I was asleep but it did. It usually waited until after I slept though so I thought it was weird. I was waiting for it to pass so that I can relax and sleep but then I realized something... I can't move.

I've basically skipped the meditating part of getting a lucid dream and went straight to the paralyzed part, literally all I have to do now is go to sleep. So that's what I did.

I woke up in my room and my room was very trippy because it was changing to many different colors. I assumed sleep paralysis but I could move just fine. I realized that it had actually worked and I was excited. Even though I could move I didn't because I didn't wanna do anything that could ruin it.

I took joy in just changing the colors of the walls and ceiling of my room for awhile but then I was like

wait what are you doing? this is a lucid dream! you can literally do whatever you want!

So I decided I wanted a complete change of scenery at the very least so I thought about where I wanted to be and I decided, why not one of those pretty rooms inside a tree that I've seen in a lot of MMOs?

My brain basically said "are you crazy?! heck no!"

I woke up almost immediately and had a sleep paralysis. I was kinda disappointed.

Even if it didn't last long, that's still very cool! I've heard that lucid dreaming gets much easier with practice, so I bet if you keep it up you'll be able to do more. Hopefully it happening once means that you'll be able to do it again.

I heard that too. Lol unfortunately, I haven't figured out going back to the awesomeness known as lucid dreaming without having to wait for another sleep paralysis episode. I hope I can figure it out though it was awesome.
