Postitive and Negative Energy and Me...

I feel there is positive and negative energy in our thoughts and words..It took me a long time to realize this and have to say, I still haven't perfected it and never will...But right now it works for me..I chose what words and who's thoughts will effect me.. I like Positive energy so I always welcome it..On the other hand I don't like the feel of negative energy so I let it go..

Example:

Someone calls me a bitch... This to me is negative energy...I know I'm not and that is there opinion so let them have it..What good is it going to do me to prove to that person I'm not..And why would I want to anyways they just called me a bitch??lol..I just laugh and walk away..The reason I laugh is because I'm happy with who I am and don't have any need to prove other wise...

Someone tells me I have a heart of gold...This is positive energy..Even though I could argue that I don't, because I have many selfish tendencies as well..But I let this in..It's positive and it feels good..I thank them and walk away..

This is how I chose to deal with conflict..I could have it all wrong in someone else' s eyes but it works for me..If I bottle up all the negative thoughts and words of others,,lol,, what good is that going to for me...I like feeling good..

So to all you Negative Nanies watch out because there is someone that likes to stand up for what is good in her eyes....

Ancient One,,I do enjoy *constructive criticism* actually it makes me look at my views even closer and then maybe I might chose to change or not..It all depends what is right for me..

Take Care Dear Lady, and try not to sweat the small stuff

I have a story for you and Corvus, and everyone else.
Once I was working for a telecommunications company. my boss (who thought of me as too dominant to be able to tend to our oriental customers the way I should) proudly showed me the new ad banner, because after all he knew I had a good eye for messages.
The banner displayed an Arab on a camel, with a traditional palestinian headscarf, holding a mobile phone, and it said something about being independent and globally available.

I raised my eyebrow and said, while it is aesthetically pleasing, I think it will perceived as a negative digg at our Hebrew customers. My boss told me that I should 'stop barking negatively and return to my sleeping basket'.

Later the head of marketing and advertising stopped by to have a look at the new ad banner. guess what she said. She did not say something similar, she said exactly the same. My boss looked at me with this weird expression, and I just asked him if it was alright if I 'left my sleeping basket'.

There is what corvus said, and then there is that kind of critique that just comes from the wrong person.

I had a good eye for messages...Interesting..

So what do you think my message meant Maire??

I think it meant that you (try to) focus on what you like best when you are (over)challenged with a situation, and that you have doubts that every insult is a critique you should internalise.
But I think you did not say what is really on your mind.

@Ancient, yup, but that was not the point. The point was that even though my boss disrespected me by default, he asked me about my opinion, if only to dismiss it as nonsense. What he did not consider was how things turned out in the end.
Advertisement is a subject to closer examination because everyone knows it is very manipulative in nature, and we definitely should pick on advertisement as much as we can, because it wants our money :D However, people often are not aware of what they are really saying, and usually they do not 'want our money' or even 'our soul' so they should be cut some slack now and then.

Oooo awesome. When I hear this, I become hungry to work in the biz again. Alas, once I defeated the disability thing I have going on, lol.

I most say I find what you's two are talking about is very interesting..I use to spray paint automotive parts in an assembly plant..about a year and a half later they made me a lead hand in the paint booth..Me being the only female lead hand in a man's line of work was difficult to say the least...If I made a suggestion for something to be done a certain way to my superiors to save time and money they never took me seriously..But then when one of the male lead hands made the exact same suggestion it always got looked at..

Oy your story is missing the moment of satisfaction. Looking back, do you see any differences in how those ideas were presented? I know why my boss did what he did, but they made you lead hand, so why do that and then ignore you?

Sorry Maire ..I made sure everyone including there superiors new that the suggestions were mine..And if they would look past the things hanging between there legs then they could of saved us all alot of time.
