Hello, I wanted to suggest mantras for a little ritualistic therapy. I call such things, active meditation. It helps because the chanting takes the focus, rather than trying to stop thought, you can fuel your focus and energy and emotion into the mantras, releasing and healing...especially if you chant along, and especially if you chant on your own. I like to chant in the bath in my own space (being a mom, the bath is the best). Mantras are also powerful and each one vibrationally has certain affects through the very syllables in specific patterns, and some are very healing, protective, calming, etc. I have a couple video links to them on my page, and one is to a playlist...you could look around to find ones right for you as well. Some are very simple. You can even just chant AUM/OM over and over. This would not entail the kind of magick that requires stability and is yet, magickal :) Also, I suggest reading Women Who Run With the Wolves. It is SO beyond words in power, beauty, love, nurturing, understanding, answers; and highly therapeutic for the psyche AND strengthening. Just holding it has helped me sometimes. It is cheap online. I was hoping to respond to your discussion. I have OCD so meditation will not work for me if I'm having a bad day. Even on a good day, I find it difficult without a guide. The one way I have found to get around it is yoga. When I give my body something to do, my mind can relax while I'm engaged in the activity. I bet you could find a yoga DVD for a couple of dollars at a pawn shop. I have good luck with getting a massage, too, but that costs money unless you have a friend who will do it for free. Another thing you can try is grounding. Find a comfortable tree or rock to lean up against, sit down, take off your socks and shoes, and fold up your legs with your feet on the ground. You may find lavendar essential oil helpful for any of these activities. I like to place a drop on each temple and on my third eye position.
