About Me:
Once a child from my work spelled my name when asked to spell uniqueness. Eternal optimist with an extremely quirky sense of humor. =)
Favorite Books
Got a decade? I am not a fan of horror or thrillers, and do prefer happy endings, but am pretty open to how the author gets me to that happy ending.

Always looking for a new book to read, and love suggestions! =)
Other Beliefs/Practices
I'm unique (as are we all...irony!)...and generally don't label...especially as my ideas (will make more sense if you've seen DOGMA) come from more than one place. =) I lean in the general direction of Celtic paganism, with other bits thrown in as they call to me, wave at me, or jump in my way and say, "Hi!"
Hobbies
Breathing, reading, writing, massage therapy (am an LMT!), hanging with my puppy dog!, sleep is a nice hobby now and again, yarn work, oh...I still enjoy coloring books at times (I work in an elementary school's library, so kids offer me coloring pages at times). Making emoticon smiley faces is big for me tonight =) =)=)=)=) =)

I'm sure I have more, but am busy right now to the point that I don't do many.
Heroes
My sister, military personnel (not a fan of war, but support those who serve), those who use their brains over brawn, those who make a positive difference, animals - they have such capacity for love and forgiveness.

My brain is squishy, but not to the point where I can sleep yet. So, I'm up and trying to get my papers done for grad school (just the ones due in about 20 hours), and have found my brain to be just squishy enough that the words I managed to string together to make less sense than I'm used to during my nighttime writings. Interesting, yet little to no sense (at least right now). Part of this may  be that I have the urge to go visit friends and do a big bonfire, but am instead doing the…

I find myself forlorn...yet full of hope...

*Info, yet ranty in a way...but feels good to get off my chest*

...as I wait to find out how many people are going to lose their jobs in the school district. I am proud to be in public education - we work are hind ends off to provide quality education for all who walk through our doors. I am coming to find that not all schools approach things this way, but I know that all of my coworkers and I strive to meet high expectations, what feel like lofty goals, and often with…

First day of 'spring break 2011'...not too bad =)

One of the fantastic things about being an 'educational support professional' (teaching assistant) is the fact that I get vacations a lot more often than others do.  Downside?  I only 'work' for 51 percent of the year, and have to make that money stretch out over 100 percent of the year - not easy, but I'm working on it (for nearly a decade).

My district (as many in Oregon as well as the nation are) is prepping for some probably pretty nasty cuts at the end of this school…

A friend asked me if my absence causes heat waves...=)

Posted on August 15, 2010 at 1:48pm 2 Comments

I know it's August, a time in the Northern Hemisphere where weather at least tends to be warmer, or near that side of things.

A friend and I were texting last night and she asked me if my leaving Oregon to visit Texas was the world's cue to send a heat wave or two to Oregon. I could not stop laughing when I read that text. Last year, when I came to Texas (visiting Sister and family) in mid-July, there was a nasty heat wave in Oregon. Now there is at least a minor one...and it…

Taking my next step - essential oils - I can't believe I'm doing this!

I want to go on record for anyone who reads this...I am NOT trying to convince anyone to buy anything. I'm just incredibly excited!

I don't make commitments lightly. When I give my word, I do my very best to live up to it...including to me...but more so when it affects others. I don't promote products I haven't tried and/or don't use myself. I don't take on new projects lightly, either, but I decided about three months to meditate on something and if it was still circling like it had… Continue

Hey there Terra ;) The best resource I can possibly think of is a book that's actually not a how-to book, but a biography of a living priestess in brooklyn and what her life is like walking the tradition; Its called "Mama Lola", by Karen McCarthy Brown, and its the very first book I -always- hand prospective students or anyone who expresses interest in the tradition. Its beautiful, and one I know you'll love. ;) (there are others, but Mama Lola is the big one I think people should read first ;)
