Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
Age
well on my way to 100
Astrological Sign
Capricorn
About Me:

Whilst this is no a picture of me, twould be how I rather fancy myself during the olde time period...awe to be young, beautiful and live in a past time, where honour and love were all that mattered.... "a girl can dream, can't she?"

Child of Universe, Lover of Nature, Animals and Mankind Ok now I am ready to add more information here:

I am first and foremost a woman, who is a young 56 married to a wonderful man who is the Laird of our Clan. He is forever my Highlander. We have 1 adult daughter and 1 teenage daughter and two adult adopted daughters. We have two grandson's with a very good scottish names. I took an early retirement as a sheriff's sergeant in 1998, to stay home with my, then 3 year old, daughter. She is in her senior year of high school and never ceases to amaze me with her high apptitude for math, history and so much more. My husband is a high Ranking officer in our Fire Department and a firefighter/paramedic/pediatric trauma nurse, too. I walk the pagan path of the Druid ,having a keen interests in this path, as I am the family historian, teller of stories and herbalistic practioner. My family came to Canada from Knapdale, Argyll, Scotland and from County Derry, Ireland and I am a second generation American. My grandmother was a McGregor and we descend from the MacGregor, MacClean and Duncan Clans.

I have a mother who is under the care of Hospice. I am a genealogical researcher; researching in the USA, Canada and the UK. My mother's family immigrated from Germany to the USA in the 1700's and were members of the Moravian Faith. I prefer my scottish roots as I am more closely connected to them. I am also a member of the NSDAR as my fifth great grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War and I've been able to prove that descendant line with documentation.

I am not ashamed of any work that I have done in my life, though people tend to shy away from me when I say that I am a retired cop. I have no connections to that part of my life. I will from time to time mention it as it relates to a story that I am telling. That part of my life is part of who I am. I do not judge people for their lifestyle or their past. Our past, whether good or bad, is a part of who we are. Dwelling on the negative aspects of our past is not healthy but learning from them is what makes us stronger.

I have high expectations of honour, trust and loyalty. I do not like people who I cannot trust as this is a clear violation of the path that I have chosen. I wish no ill to anyone, only happiness and enlightenment.
Favorite Books
Historical Romance novels, with a keen likeness to the Scottish-Time Travel Romance
I also like to read books on different paths of faith to make my self aware of what is out there. I am still learning, every day.
Beliefs / Practices
Pagan, Druid
Other Beliefs/Practices
I've a keen association with those who practice wicca...and a tendancy to rely on witchcraft at times...This does no make me an indecisive practioner, as some might think, but cunning enought to employ and unite those aspects of the two paths to my liking.
Hobbies
Quilting, Sewing, Machine Embroidery work, teaching when I'm allowed the time, craft work, painting and genealogy work.
Heroes
My Husband & my late Sire

Peace by Gibran

"Sacred Hour" by Christopher Vacher

Peace XVIII by Khalil Gibran

The tempest calmed after bending the branches of the trees and leaning heavily upon the grain in the field. The stars appeared as broken remnants of lightning, but now silence prevailed over all, as if Nature's war had never been fought.

At that hour a young woman entered her chamber and knelt by her bed sobbing bitterly. Her heart…

Cats and Witches....How They Became Such Close Friends

Winged cat by Stephanie Law

Below are two articles about Witches and Cats and how they came to be so closely associated to one another. I found it quite interesting as my cat, Radar, is my familiar and joins me everytime I'm in the Kirk.

Witches and Cats

Witches and cats became firmly linked together during the "Reign of Terror" of religious persecution in medieval Europe.

A Beautiful Soul who loved as a woman and as a man...her words will live on forever...Amantine Dupin aka: George Sand

“I regard as a mortal sin not only the lying of the senses in matters of love, but also the illusion which the senses seek to create where love is only partial. I say, I believe, that one must love with all of one's being, or else live, come what may, a life of complete chastity.”

TRACING THE HISTORY OF THE BAGPIPES

THE PIPES

By Anthony Morgan

PORAC Law Enforcement News, July 2001

From http://www.west-point.org/taps/Taps.html

Two pipers stand on a hill away from the assembled gathering. The cold wind whips the grasses about their legs as they stare at rows of mourners. The pipers fill their instruments with air and place the bags beneath their arms.…

Replica Stone

The Stone of Scone, also known as the Stone of Destiny, is seen as of huge significance to Scotland's nationhood. It was the seat on which generations of Kings of Scotland, and Kings of Dalriada before them, were crowned.

Until 1296 it was housed at Scone Abbey, where the coronations of Kings of Scotland took place: the last being of John Balliol. But…

The True Significance of Friday the 13th....The Next one will be November 13, 2009

Friday the 13th

Not being a person interested in superstitions and so ignorant of their silly histories, I decided to find out about the significance of Friday the 13th.

The most common explanation for the belief that Friday the 13th is unlucky is that there was a massacre of the Knights Templar on that date. The Knights formed one of the most important and…

Spiritualist, medium (well large actually, she weighed in at over 22 stones (that's over 300 lbs to any reader from the USA)) and the last person in Britain to be tried and sentenced under the 1735 Witchcraft Act.

Born in Callander in 1897, the daughter of a cabinet-maker, Helen Duncan was a show woman who travelled throughout Britain, holding regular séances during which she would produce the forms of dead people by emitting a…

Scottish Fight for Freedom ....The Declaration of Arbroath 1320...Translated into English from Latin

For as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom — for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself. From The Declaration of Arbroath 1320.

When I Fail as a Human Being...

Frequently I am reminded about how fickle fate and life can be. How words offered in writing can be misconstrued and how quick tempers can flair. I've seen it on many sites through all kinds of discussions. The spoken word offers up more than the written word, just as a picture viewed will most likely be different from the descriptive words painting it.

When I say something the inflection of my voice gives way to…

I get all kinds of compliments on my choice of graphics and music on my page as if I had some hidden talent for interior (yes my page is a place) design. 'Tis not talent and most would agree that the music is contemporary. So what is it that makes people take a second look and then pay the compliment. The Yew : Taxus baccata

The yew tree played an important role in the formation of human culture and consciousness. It provided wood for shelter, tools and weapons, foliage and bark for every medicine bag. Its greatest influence on culture, however, was its myriad spiritual associations with the goddess, the…

What I Have Seen in my Life...Does it Really Matter.?

I have touched death so many times that I no longer know the number. I have seen what happens when 3500 lbs of Detroit steel hits a human body at 60 mph. I have heard the guttural sounds uttered from the wife of that deceased person and watched as her small children flocked to her screaming. I have held the lifeless form…

Mo Ghile Mear an Scotch-Irish song of a Woman's lament over the loss of bonnie Prince Charlie

The Story behind the song "Mo Ghile Mear", by Sean Clarach MacDonaill (1691-1754)

A Jacobite song originally composed by Seán Clárach Mac Dónaill (1691-1754), in which Eire laments her love, Bonnie Prince Charlie Stuart, then in exile. It has been called “one of the most powerful lamentations of the 17th century,” and while it is usually rendered by a male voice in a martial fashion, it is in fact a woman's lament…

There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe...
At every crossing of the threads there is an individual.
And every individual is a crystal bead.
And every crystal bead reflects
Not only the light from every other crystal in the net
But also every other reflection
Throughout the entire universe.
