All Beliefs are Welcome Here!
Gosh. I can't really think of a good answer to all of the above, but I can agree with you that there are uppity people in every religion who snub others for not doing things a certain way. I've been solitary for a very long time and have developed my own way of doing things and have gotten very set in my ways. There is a strong Pagan community here in Louisville, but I don't get out much.
I just do what feels right for me--it's neither traditional or eclectic. When good things happen, I thank the spirits. When something bad is happening, I endure and request that an intervention is made. When I need something, I make an offering and request, again, that an intervention be made.
I do wish sometimes that I could be more active in a group, but I just don't have the time these days.
I think you answered well, and it works for you, and you are happy, so why not.
Above all to thine own self be true ! I like that statement.
Agreed and well said. Also think about, what were Pagans before we got into all these various traditions?
Wonderful, oh I like that quote too. Thanks!!!
What are the benefits, blessings of each?
Eclectic, main benefit is you get to customize your spiritual path to your individual needs & wants. I think I'd rather leave the answer for the benefits of traditional up to someone who is traditional.
What are some of the negatives of each?
I see this as an opening to one bashing the other, so, I will to continue to only answer from the Eclectic perspective. The one disadvantage that I can see, is that your focus may be spread out over many different belief systems & may miss out on some of the more subtle attributes of single belief system.
Why do some traditionalists, look down on those who choose the eclectic path?
Because they think they are superior.
Which is more you, and why does it feel right for you?
I am Eclectic. I like living by my own rules more than I do by rules of others.
Excellent, and thank you.
