All Beliefs are Welcome Here!
They thought this time it was because the planets aligned. What they didn't take into account is that we have discovered there may be at least two more planets revolving around the sun.
Lets count back to all the times people have said the world was ending...
Here's a list, and it will fill a lot of space. From Wikipedia.
66–70 CE Simon bar Giora, Essenes The Essene sect of Jewish ascetics saw the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 66–70 as the final end-time battle before the arrival of the Messiah. By the authority of Simon, coins were minted declaring the redemption of Zion.
365 CE Hilary of Poitiers Announced that the end would happen that year.
375–400 CE Martin of Tours Stated that the world would end before 400, writing, "There is no doubt that the Antichrist has already been born. Firmly established already in his early years, he will, after reaching maturity, achieve supreme power."
500 CE Hippolytus of Rome, Sextus Julius Africanus, Irenaeus All three predicted Jesus would return in the year 500. One prediction was based on the dimensions of Noah's ark.
793 Apr 6 Beatus of Liébana The Spanish monk prophesied the second coming of Christ and the end of the world on that day to a crowd of people.
800 Sextus Julius Africanus Sextus Julius Africanus revised the date of Doomsday to 800.
799–806 Gregory of Tours Calculated the End occurring between 799 and 806.
848 Thiota Declared that the world would end during that year.
992–995 Various Christians Good Friday coincided with the Feast of the Annunciation; this had long been believed to be the event that would bring forth the Antichrist, and thus the end-times, within 3 years.
1000 Jan 1 Pope Sylvester II The Millennium Apocalypse at the end of the Christian Millennium. Various Christian clerics predicted the end of the world on this date, including Pope Sylvester II. Riots occurred in Europe and pilgrims headed east to Jerusalem.
We have a thousand years to go and as many predictions of the end of times.
I could list them all, but I think you get the idea. About every 50 years or so someone tells everyone the world is going to end and it never does. Our sun won't burn out for many thousands of years, nor will our earth quit revolving around that sun.
So if the world ends, it will be Corporations spending all our resources, paying us nothing and eventually them running off to another planet.
2012 was just the beginning of the age of aquarious
seems like some folks have agendas to play out.
The end of the world always tickles me. Maybe the end of humans or civilization but the world? Nope, it will last thousands possibly millions of years after this new species runs it's course in evolution.
Climate change is no bueno.
At least for the folks living in warmer climes. Droughts, breadbaskets of the nations drying up, and millions of more people living where the land naturally would not support them.
Not the end of the world by any means, but the end of a lot of humans.
I've always said that the end of the world is going on now, but its going out with a whimper, not a scream.
Each moment is slightly diff than the last, in all things,
that being said, reality (and world ) is different, ever changing at all times eh?
..the old world gone, the new one (born anew!) with each passing moment..
(well as we conceive of time, anyway)..change is one thing you can count on,
thing are ever changing, ( I think its why humans have this 'end of the world aspect'
in their consciousness, the end of one moment, and birth of the new is a good thing!
not bad thing, Namaste'
You do realize you didn't actually say anything?
Heard about sink holes, now there are cracks in the Earth; http://earthsky.org/earth/giant-crack-central-wyoming-october-2015?...
yes, and no seismic activity was recorded there, fortunately. So its not related to the mega volcano. Just a small event of stretching, if you will.
