I met my husband over 26 years ago, he was stationed at the Army Based (Ft Dix NJ) I worked at, I thought he was cute as hell....we dated a little, then we both decided that it was better to date others, as he was being transferred to Ft Leonard Wood, with his unit, we still had some of the same friend over the years, and from time to time his name would come up, I knew he had married and had kids, he knew I had married had kids, divorced remarried... lol...

In 2010 I again was getting divorced, as I found out he was also, one of our friends had told him what I was dealing with, my soon to be ex had lost his mind, broke into my house, stole items from my car... when John found out all the drama that was going on he got my address from our friend, and knocked on my door, he was getting out of the Army after 20 plus years, and was living back in PA where he was from, when I opened my door and saw him, it was like time stood still... still so handsome....

We had our first date in over 26 years on March 20th 2010.... we have never been apart since.... we married on July 15th 2011...

He was raised very catholic....he went to a Catholic High school, he was even going to be a Priest, then he decided to join the Army and had Basic training at Ft Dix NJ, and then he was stationed there... then we met...

when we got back together after all those years, I was very open about being a Pagan and a Witch, he has been nothing short of amazing with all of it... he has been to several celebrations, from Yule to Beltane, Ostara to Samhain, and has had a blast....he built me a special room where I have all my books and herbs and where I can just chill out...

April 24th I was in the hospital with some heart issues... he was right there with me, before I was takin into the cath lab to see why my heart was acting up, he said... the reason our marriages didn't work out, was because we were always meant to grow old together, I Love you more every day...

We will be married 3 years this July, yes we have ups and downs, and sure we fight... but we are never mad long, and the downs are getting less and less....

So who ever tells you Pagans and Non Pagans cant get married and make it work, are full of it.... at the end of the day its not what you are, but who you are, being a loving caring person is all that matters....

Be Blessed All.... Love Morg

That's a very nice message. I was raised Catholic too. I went to Catholic pre-school through college. It never seem all that unnatural when I became interested in witchcraft. Catholic do so much magic IMO anyway.

Me too. I even went to an all girls Catholic high school. Orthodox Catholics would disagree, but I don't see the religion as totally incompatible with paganism. It has a lot of the same elements. As long as said Catholic wasn't orthodox, then I could see a marriage working.

Blessings

My Father in Law still has his wedding ring on, even tho, my Mother in law died 4 years ago, and "Pappy" (love the hillbilly slang lol) has a live in girlfriend, he said and I quote "I will always be married to my wife, that's how God wants it, just cause she is gone, doesn't make her any less my wife", he will never remarry either... so im not sure if that counts as "Orthodox" or not... not sure how different Roman Catholic is from Orthodox....

My sister in law once asked if I eat pork, which I thought was a hoot, I told her I can eat anything I want, but im not eating road kill stew, lol.... my husband is from a very small town in coal "country" PA, the homes were once owned by the coal companies, and I kid you not, I swear you can hear , banjos and fettles' lol.... I sat down with my 2 sister in laws and my brother in law and explained what I am, and all I got was.... "damn Johnny, this one is a keeper, with the price of gas her Broom riding gonna save you loads lol".... then my poor brother in law got smacked by his wife lol..... they have been nothing but great, I bust them about no teeth and moonshine and road kill stew, they bust me on drunk broom flying... its nice to be around people who really don't judge.... Thank you for sharing a positive message about marriage. Yes marriages between individuals of different beliefs can thrive. My husband is also a practicing catholic.  I am curious how many of us here have similiar situations.

Blessings...

I have a good friend who is married to a Jewish man, she is a Pagan, but not a Witch, he has come to Yule and Beltane.... they are an awesome couple.... he has his Jewish holydays, and she has her Pagan ones.... and his mother, who is very Jewish, loves my girl friend... she even makes food for Yule to help her out.... it just took a sit down and lots of explaining and tolerance for his mom to understand and except her... and she did 100%, and they have small kids that are learning about both religions.....

I am glad you and your husband are getting along so well, but you're also not a young couple.  Your kids seem to be grown.

It's another matter when a couple is young and you want to have kids together and the families are still a big influence in their lives.

Bright Blessings,

Granted we are not a (young) couple.... and yes I have 2 (grown)children, 25 and 21, but my husband has a 13 year old son, that lives with us, and his ex wife ( who is a nasty bitch, for lack of a better word) lost her mind when she found out I was a Pagan/Witch, she called child protection on us, and lied her ass off, after 2 years of bullshit, they sided with us, and gave full custody to my husband, so while she had NO influence on me, she tried to destroy mine and my husbands relationship, but she failed, it only made us stronger as a couple, and made us see that we really were always meant to be together.

Now as far as "family" influences, my Grandmother came from Italy, on the boat lol, she was VERY Roman Catholic, as are ALL my Aunts and Uncles and Cousins, it took me years to get some of them to understand I do not worship a Devil, I do not eat children, I do not drink blood... some of my family still wont speak to me over my Pagan/Witch status, which is a MAJOR loss for them, and coming from a at one time very close family.....well it sucks....

MY 21 year old daughter is a practicing Catholic, while my 25 year old son is on the fence on all of it, my "little guy", is 100% into Paganism, he has come to Yule, Beltane, and Candle Mass, with me and is looking forward to Lammas and all the rest....

so to say just because im "old" lol and that my family has no influence, well that's not 100% true, I very much miss the family that doesn't talk to me, and I could have done with out the state of NJ ripping my family apart over lies and misconceptions .....

In the end all the drama and bullshit just made us stronger....

See, my sister married a devout Catholic and the church would not marry them unless she converted to Catholicism and agreed to raise their children as Catholics.

And him being very Catholic was not something he wanted to give up, nor would she expect him to give up.  He'd dreamed of marrying in his family's church, since his religion was very important to him and his family.

So my sister converted for her love for him and his love for her and the pressure of his very religious family.

I don't think you had that kind of pressure and expectation.

Blessings to you....

That's a shame.... I feel sorry for your sister....

I didn't go into my other marriages... but now I will.... My first marriage, my Grandmother made us marry in a church, as she did all my cousins, we HAD to go to Latin mass, my Grandmother spoke 3 languages, Italian, English, Latin,..... all of the Grand Children HAD to become "Devout" Catholics, it wasn't until my Grandmother died, did I finally say ENOUGH, I was unhappy... hated the church.. it was never a fit for me... so I was 29, had 2 kids, hated my husband, he wouldn't let me explore anything when it came to religion, so I divorced him.... kicked him outta the house... and went 100% the other way, only to marry another controlling ass, whos parents were and are the biggest fakes around, they pretend they are so God like, but yet they stand in judgment of everyone, while they live in a glass house... so I divorced him too...

John is my 3rd husband, and I wish I had married him first, he says the same thing... he loves me for the crazy witch iam lol..... and  does not push any part of his religion on me, and I don't do that to him, he enjoys my friends, and really has a good time at my Sabbaths ...

I hope your sisters love for her husband will prevail and she will have a great loving marriage... I truly do... but I couldn't deal with losing parts of myself and giving up what I was, for anyone...now at 45... im doin me.....

soo you really have no idea what kind of "pressure nor expectation" ive had to deal with...

when you live under pressure sooner or later the top will come off... I truly hope that doesn't happen to your sister... and she has a long happy life with her husband...

My David is an "enlightened Christian" and is my biggest fan, plus He's "seen" ALOT of "stuff" in 20 years.LOL

My "Hillbilly" teases me... he keeps saying " if I see crazy stuffs in the house, ill be across the street drinking my beer till they go away" lol...

You might enjoy this Lass, my hillbilly was asked if he would buy a "Haunted House" ? he said if the price was right, they said ok a 300k house, for 60k but, it had a reputation for "voices being heard, and "Black Magic" was practiced in it... would you buy it and live in it??... he said "sure would, have you met my wife the Witch ??, the voices would give her someone to talk to all day, and she practices magic, so she would love me forever, if I bought her, her dream home" lol
