Ok so I have seen the term New Age tossed around in a few forums. What is the "New Age movement" and/or philosophies?

not that far away.

the videos don't run away, katt :D

Ha!  I have no idea what half of the stuff they're saying means (I also watched The Shit New Age Girls say)...but I do smudge and I get my sage smudge wands from a shop that would totally understand what they mean I'm sure. lol

ROFL!!!

People like this really do exist!  I've actually met them!

You know, there is something to be said for the deeper concepts that these two videos barely hint at.  In one sense, it seems unfortunate that parody and satire have made New Agers look ridiculous, but on the other hand, at least the metaphysics of it all remain safe behind a veil of mockery.

I've been a New Ager since the Harmonic Convergence, but the way I identify with the movement is by the expansion of my self-awareness through music and appreciation of my environment.  I certainly don't eat well, and I smoke.

We are already IN the new age.  It doesn't require any special focus or esoteric practices.  Just be who you are.

I grew up in such an environment until I was around 12. Believe me, the "metaphyiscs" did not leave a lasting impression in those people, their life style now resembles: pretending this never happened. But they were not more fake than anyone else, they really meant it. I live as a witness to many peoples shame, Gilfur!

To me, it's a marketing tool. There is New Age music and all sorts of stuff promoted using that term. New Age shops are springing up all over. Many close just as quickly.

lol thats funny :)

The only thing I do is say "oh my goddess" since I was eleven. I also used to say "oh megami-sama" which is loosely..very loosely "oh my goddess" in Japanese XD.

Anything Japanese does not count as European New Age, it is just plain whack, and should be regarded as a respectful nod from the Japanese towards to them alien cultures, lol

lol Thats absolutely true. As a kid I was a total anime nerd. It also used to drive my mom absolutely nuts.
