In December of 1995, my family drove from our home in Birmingham, AL, to visit relatives in Louisville, KY, where I live now. We stayed with my mom's parents, and right off the bat I can tell you I wasn't thrilled... The house had a cracked foundation, which meant cracked walls and ceilings. It was full of cobwebs and dust, seeing as my grandparents were rather physically incapable. And it was kinda dark--they didn't always bother to change light bulbs because they felt it saved money. Whatever....

Anyway.... Here we were--my parents, my younger sister, and I, in this god awful ugly dark house--for Christmas 1995. I was twelve years old. My sister and I slept in the twin beds in the smaller guest room. The room had hideous old 1970's wallpaper, white brown-stiped curtains with an AC unit in the window. The twin beds were parallel to each other, with the headboards against the wall, flanking the nasty window, and the footboards towards the door.

It was a couple days before Christmas and my sister and I were sent to bed at a time that placated my grandparents. My sister hummed and mumbled to herself until she was passed out. I, on the otherhand, having Asperger's Syndrome and having an active mind, laid there wide awake for HOURS. I kept looking at the clock, and another hour would go by, and I'd get more frustrated.

I finally got settled, but was pulled from the edge of sleep by SOMETHING. The big, 1970's style flip digit clock read 3:47 A.M. I sighed and laid on my back, staring at the stained popcorn ceiling. Something felt weird---like I wasn't alone. I looked over at my sister and she was dutifully drooling oh her pillow. I looked back at the ceiling... I became very uneasy... I laid there for several minutes, trying to figure it out. I knew no one had entered the room---I hadn't heard the door creak open. (And trust me, the doors in this house were creaky as F*CK.)

I tilted my head up off the pillow to look around the room.... I saw him. At the foot of my bed, stood a middle-aged man. He was wearing a 1930's style suit, was clean-shaven except for a thin mustache. He also donned a wedding band. I will never forget his face... He looked surprised--his mouth was slightly open and his dark, apologetic eyes wide open behind his roundish glasses. He looked alive, but somewhat filmy. I propped myself up on my elbows and froze, looking into his face... He stared back.

It felt like forever until his lips moved, as if he were trying to speak, but no sound emerged. I couldn't speak, and I couldn't move. He tried to speak again, but again, with no sound. I tried to say "What?', but I stammered, and he vanished. Just like that, he was gone completely. Needless to say, I laid there awake for the remainder of the night. I couldn't turn my brain off. Who was he? Why was he there? What was he trying to say? Was he more afraid of me than I was of him? Is it possible that not all ghosts are mean or scary like on TV? Was he just hanging out and didn't mean for me to see him?

Around 5:00 A.M, my grandmother got up and started a pot of coffee. I got up and ran into the kitchen. She could tell I was rattled, and made me a fantastic breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, toast.... The works! I told her what happened and she told me it sounded like the house's previous owner---Robert Crisp, who had built the house in the 1920's and had died young during the 1930's of pancreatic cancer. I asked her to never speak a word of my encounter, and she kept her promise... I feared being mocked and ridiculed, and even accused of trying to scare my sister. She took my secret to her grave with her in 1997.

I never opened up to my family about the man at the foot of my bed until I was about 23 years old. After that incident at my grandparents' house, I read LITERALLY read every book on the paranormal that I could get my hands on. I started watching ghost shows on TV and realized that I wasn't alone. By the time I was 25, I had lead several paranormal investigations in Louisville, KY. I made it my mission to provide answers to anyone who didn't understand thing that were happening in their house.

Please share your ghost encounters! I'm happy to answer questions on the thread or via private message. Also, I don't charge for investigations--I take whatever you feel like offering me. I'm willing to travel more than two hours from Louisville if you let me bunk at your house. Anyhow, share your stories!

Even though it was trying to communicate it could be residual energy. But I agree sometimes a home especially old home what capture energy. Thanks for sharing I think things would be better if people would share more about their paranormal experiences

Sure it wasn't a dream, Cryptid?  On the one hand it's night and you say the house is dark, and on the other hand  you're able to describe this guy down to his moustache and wedding ring.  I wonder how you know the suit style was from the 1930s when you were 12 years old.

That was interesting, Cryptid. Thank you for posting it. Have you shared this with any of the "ghost groups" on this site? You may get more responses that way, depending how active that group is. (maybe start your own group here?)

When you go on an investigation is the aim to just collect evidence of a haunting or do you also move-on "troublesome" spirits?

If the haunting is "residual" in nature but the homeowners don't like it, can anything be done to help the homeowners?

I would be interested to hear more of your experiences and I hope you will share more of them in the future.

One of the best and most well known incidents of extreme paranormal activity is illustrated in the movie "The Conjuring" I has basically an exorcist kind of theme to it, it is supposedly a true story, I have my doubts, but I can't be 100% certain

Well, having lived amongst a culture that practiced ritual human sacrifice for thosuands of years, many of which the temple remnants are still visible and accessable, I've been to some really, really haunted places, and I have had some very interesting experiences.

Howver, I've been looking for ghosts and demons for half of my life, and so far I have not encountered any that jumped out in front of me.

Who knows, maybe their scared of me!

I have yet to see "The Conjuring", I heard it was based on a famous possession case which made Ed and Lorraine Warren famous, and that the film "Annabel the doll" was made as a prequel to it.

I have seen "The Exorcist", the film which turned people off using ouija boards. I had the record "Tubela Bells" by Mike Oldfield which was the theme music to that film.

What is the atmosphere like in the temple ruins you mentioned? If they are haunted, what are the ghosts like?

I have the Exorcist, and Exorcist 11. Both great movies. When I got hold of The Conjuring I have to admit I was very impressed! Also have Annabel which is very good suspense horror.

Love Tubular Bells , I still have a copy of that in mp3. You have to listen to it in an "altered state of consciousness"

My experiences with paranormal acitivity could be considered low key. I have summoned, I have conjured, but with no "visible evidence" to show. Let just say in my experience, visible manifestation is not necessarily the way the game is played.

I'm the kind of guy who is not afraid of taboos. No explanation necessary.

What has happened is what I call subtle aftermath, you will have blowback and backlash, but it occurs in ways that you don't expect, and often it is an energy that is released upon someone you may be in proximity with, or close to, and you will notice a particlar aggressive action that most likely is not coincidental. Or some other ostentatious experience that cannot escape your attention, like leaving a graveyard from the 1800's and having an experience after you get home like your plumbing all of a sudden is disabled, with out any diagnosis, and it begins to work again shortly after.

What I have had is attacks in my sleep. That was particularly alarming at first, because there is nothing like the feeling when you are deep in your sleep and all of a sudden you feel smothered and violated, like feeling you are going to die, being semiconscious of it, and you might not come out of it.

That happened to me four or five times. But I have a remedy for it, and it has not occured now for about the last five years.

The atmosphere in the temple ruins depends on which temple you go to. All have been very near the ocean. Some were buried under lava flow.

The more isolated ones have a very creepy energy to them. All the myths and legends start to pour through your imagination. It also tends to shed some blowback, but it's not particularaly an atmosphere that I enjoy, because there is a certain element of respect I like to yield to the guardian spirits of those places.

Although there has been rampant incident of people who are killed by violating taboos, or being in disrespect. How you get around the danger of it is to have knowledge and recognition of the "sacred space", why you are there etc.

I have had about10 incidents of nearly being hit by other vehicles, and that is where it gets pretty freaky.

Thank you for answering my question and for sharing a little of your experiences. I find this subject (the "paranormal") interesting.

Yes, i am absolutely certain that something was trying to take me out. Too many close calls, far too many.

So you could say that I, as well, have risked my life to do what I do, and I am fully aware of the consequences.

This incident occurred in a house I lived in for quite some time. It was a place where I opened a portal to the spirit world.

One night, shortly after to going to bed, I was laying on my back looking up at the ceiling. A beautiful translucent-blue skull appeared floating in the air over my torso. It immediately descended into my stomach area and a severe pain shot threw my body from head to toe. The pain quickly subsided.

In the morning, I realized that a physical ailment that had been plaguing me was gone. There was no more pain, discomfort, and other accompanying symptoms I had been experiencing. This pleased me greatly. I thought that the experience from the previous night had healed my physical body.

Several times after the initial encounter with the blue skull, while meditating and dreaming, the same blue skull would appear. I would ride on the top of the blue skull as it traveled to distant cities and hidden places.

It once took me inside a mountain cave. The skull moved some rocks on the floor of the cave and revealed a hidden chamber below. We descended into the chamber onto a stone throne. The skull broke open a hole in the arm rest of the throne and revealed that the throne was hollow. Something is hidden in the throne but it is a mystery.

It sounds like the blue skull was helpful to you. Did you open the portal on purpose?
