I have a baby who is almost 2 months old (she was born Feb 1st 2014) I also have a 7 yr old. I listened to the drs about vaccinations on my first daughter. However, I have heard there are vaccines that can be delayed, some that are unnecessary and can be avoided. I also heard some vaccines pose a risk of autism. My first daughter has been diagnosed as ADHD. I'm not sure if this is related, but it might be?

Being that my baby is almost 2 months, she is due for her next set of needles. My mom told me they used to wait until 3 months for this set.

I was hoping for some of you to enlighten me in the types of vaccines and options available....

also, what did you all do for vaccinations? Did you avoid or delay any? if so, which ones and why?

Talk to your doctor about your worries.  Ask for her advice on what can be postponed safely.

Do not listen to any 'vaccines causes autism' propaganda put out there by a Playboy centerfold model.

The vaccine-autism link was debunked and quite resoundingly years ago.  It is only still going around because the internet never dies.

While I dont necessarily agree with more modern vaccines (i.e. Chicken pox) i think vaccinations are very important. There have yet to be any viable studies to suggest they in any way cause autism...even McCarthy (who purported this idea) has recanted her statement that vaccinations caused her sons autism.

Vaccinations not only protect our children, but the rest of society as well. My son is 6 weeks old, and at his 2 month appointment, i will be vaccinating him. He will be given the same vaccinations I received as a child, and I have no side effects as a result. I have little reason to believe he will be any different.

They vaccinate for chicken pox? Damn, sorry; what kind of weak people are we growing these days? Sheesh.

Better to have a child vaccinated against chickenpox, so they don't give it to pregnant women or adults as the effects are more severe in adults.  6800 people died from chickenpox in 2010, down from 11,200 in 1990.

Low mortality rates...so long as one of those 6800 isn't you or your loved ones.

i researched it for years. and  while  my children got the first  couple  rounds of vaccines? they haven't gotten anymore.  the state  of  ohio still allows for  either  a religious  or philosophical  & medical exemption.  i chose to use the religious and  philosophical exemptions.

the AMA is trying to get  pretty  much ALL exemptions  taken out of  our laws.  period.  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/09/18/vacci...

http://thepeopleschemist.com/reasons-dont-vaccinate-children-vaccin...  this seems and  interesting site to styart with.

THIS  site is  pretty dang awesome! http://vaclib.org/index.htm

by the way? try  using startpage  for  researching this because  obviously google  has their  cute  lil agenda to side swipe any parents trying to research this  by  putting their  "anti-vaccine people are  crazy" type  links up for SEVERAL pages, it wasn't  like  that a few years ago.

and  this lady Dr.Tenpenny? she  has  got it going  on!! http://drtenpenny.com/home/

now, included  in this  post  is the form i used for the  schools when required, when my  kids were attending. 1 still is  and  i will use this form again with her  if needed. i hope the  file comes through.

please  keep in mind, i chose this path for  my kids because  i researched  it thoroughly first.  others may choose  however they  wish.  it'd be  nice for  those other folks to be able to make an INFORMED choice  if they had ALL the  information.  which is  actually being  hidden by various  PTB.

hmm, the autism -vaccine  linked was "debunked", yeah..not  buying that so much.because  it was debunked  by  docs paid by the  folks who make the vaccines.  or so i read somewhere  or other. :D

REALLY hope the files  upload..Cheers to all!

PS: i did adjust the  form to include the religious as well as  philosophical exemption.  and  the  points , if you read them are  scarily true. ok, going to repost the  pic because it didn't  post  on this well.

You didn't research it thoroughly enough.  I found the below after just a 10 second search on google.

Try reading science sometimes.

You're spreading suspicion about the big bad pharma companies, am I right?

It was actually the man who wrote the scientific paper that linked autism to vaccines who was the quack and had connections to various money making ventures connected to lawyers who were suing the pharmaceutical companies.

He was investigated by Sunday Times Journal and it was revealed that Dr. Wakefield had multiple undeclared conflicts of interest, had manipulated evidence, and had broken other ethical codes. His article in the Lancet paper was partially retracted in 2004 and fully retracted in 2010, and Wakefield was found guilty by the General Medical Council of serious professional misconduct in May 2010 and was struck off the Medical Register, meaning he could no longer practice as a doctor.

Here is some reading material for you:

  • The Cochrane Reviews stated that the MMR vaccine does not cause autism, after a meta-review of 31 published scientific studies that examined the possibility of any link between the MMR vaccine and the health issues claimed by Wakefield. Cochrane concluded that, “exposure to MMR was unlikely to be associated with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, autism or aseptic meningitis.”
  • Well constructed epidemiological studies have also shown no link between MMR vaccine and autism in Denmark, England, Japan, Poland and the United States.
  • Despite claims that Wakefield’s findings were reproduced, not a single peer-reviewed paper ever supported the Wakefield’s claims. None.
  • Numerous studies specifically invalidate his claim.
  • In October 2004, a meta review, financed by the European Union, was published in the October 2004 edition of Vaccine and assessed the evidence given in 120 other studies and considered unintended effects of the MMR vaccine. The authors concluded that “exposure to MMR is unlikely to be associated with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, autism or aseptic meningitis.”
  • A 2007 review of independent studies performed after the publication of Wakefield’s fraudulent article, found that evidence did not support a causal association between vaccines and autism.
  • A 2009 review of studies on links between vaccines and autism concludes that “twenty epidemiologic studies have shown that neither thimerosal nor MMR vaccine causes autism. These studies have been performed in several countries by many different investigators who have employed a multitude of epidemiologic and statistical methods.” They also stated that the large size of these studies would have identified even minor correlations, and even then nothing was found.

Every heard of herd immunity?

The people being vaccinated protect those who can't be vaccinated - infants, immunocompromised people - from getting sick.

Good one, Rose.  I'll print out part of it since it applies directly to Azriel's post:

“If your child is vaccinated, why are you worried about them catching anything from my child?”

This is a common response from parents when it is suggested that a purposely unvaccinated child poses a threat to others.

For instance, this example offered on the CDC website, explains this concept quite clearly:

“In a high school of 1,000 students, none has ever had measles. All but 5 of the students have had two doses of measles vaccine, and so are fully immunized. The entire student body is exposed to measles, and every susceptible student becomes infected. The 5 unvaccinated students will be infected, of course. But of the 995 who have been vaccinated, we would expect several not to respond to the vaccine. The efficacy rate for two doses of measles vaccine can be higher than 99%. In this class, 7 students do not respond, and they, too, become infected. Therefore 7 of 12, or about 58%, of the cases occur in students who have been fully vaccinated.

As you can see, this doesn’t prove the vaccine didn’t work – only that most of the children in the class had been vaccinated, so those who were vaccinated and did not respond outnumbered those who had not been vaccinated. Looking at it another way, 100% of the children who had not been vaccinated got measles, compared with less than 1% of those who had been vaccinated. Measles vaccine protected most of the class; if nobody in the class had been vaccinated, there would probably have been 1,000 cases of measles.”

I personally do not believe that there should be any laws forcing vaccinations. However, my children haven't missed a single one & I would have them vaccinated whether or not there was a law in place. The truth is, in my opinion, vaccines work.

Do you get their yearly flu shots as well?

Every time I ever got a flu shot, I would get sick with flu-like symptoms every time....

just a few  i thought worth mentioning.  decent reads and  i learned a few things. :D it's all good.

to make an informed decision you should have  as many facts as  possible, even the  ones  that aren't  popular.

by the way? Congratulations  on the new baby! :D

The Italian case was debunked as well.

All of the court documents are in Italian, but a Francophone blog, gives some details about the case. It was a local court that made its decision based on the testimony of one physician, ignoring documents from all of the major medical societies in Italy. Insanely, the court based much of its arguments on the already debunked and fraudulent Lancet article by Dr. Wakefield.

None of the links you posted are from scientific, peer reviewed journals.

Like I said, read some science sometime.

Your conspiracy theory has already been proven wrong about the sinister pharma companies since these studies are world-wide.  They have no connection to vaccine producers.  The European studies - you DO know that socialized medicine countries have vaccine records of tens of thousands of children going back decades, right? - showed no correlation.

Please educate yourself, you're endangering not only your children but other people as well.

I'll be nice and not call you stupid.
