Online Resources for Herbal & Botanical Information

There have been so many recommendations for information online about herbs and gardening, I thought it would be a good idea to have them all in one let's put them here! I would ask that if you have a favorite place where you get information regarding herbs--healing properties, metaphysical properties, techniques for use (making tinctures, drying, blending, etc), growing, propagating, images, videos, online book resources (links to free PDF's, places to acquire, etc.)funny jokes or pictures--list it here. Please describe the site and what it offers along with the link. I mean ANYTHING about herbs or botany! Feel free to list resources you DON'T like about it. I've had trouble getting this page to look decent and be readable, so I deleted the majority of the original discussion by the same name and decided to just post a link to it.

I started with Weston Price, but simehow they make very easy instuctions sound kind of complicated. http://http//

I tried to simplify it here (this is my old blog. I don't keep it up any more):

Or perhaps the easiest way to get started is here (I call it the lazy woman's guide. It's for hard cider, but by just letting it ferment 3 days you can get a sparkling cider):
Hope that helps!

If you want good heirloom seeds Amethyst you need to check out
Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co
It's in Mansfield MO which is about 50 miles north of us. We go to the festivals they have a couple of times a year, they are a blast.

I've been buying from various seed companies for decades... I've got a long list, but here are 2 you might not find in a search..

Le Jardin du Gourmet. They sell packets cheap, so if you only want a little of each thing, you won't go broke buying regular large packets. Not a huge selection but they tend to be French gourmet types or cool USA heirlooms. Good herb list.

Redwood City Seeds. Some very cool varieties, nice large packets.

Yes, the fun is just beginning as I start looking at seed companies for the Spring planting... I can pretend it's not 0º and covered with snow outside...

I have that problem tool Captain. I never know where the best fit is so I post stuff in more than one place. The purpose of the pages is to keep stuff accessible in one place. I'm still in the process of going through the discussions weeding out stuff and putting it where it belongs. Lots of work but well worth it I think. I also encourage others to add stuff as they see fit. So a big thanks to you for contributing!

Finally remembered to link the original discussion that inspired the page. Feel free to add info to the discussion or directly to this page. The goal is to just have everything easily accessible in one place!

Ok cool - I added my links on adaptogenic herbs too.  For essential oils tho, I posted that in the oils I wasn't sure it would be 'right' to add it here.

Please do Captain! Mountain Rose Herbs is a great site and I've posted a lot of stuff from there. As a matter of fact, I've got a discussion somewhere that I need to link to this page. I first made a discussion and then wanted to add a page and it became a big mess so I need to go get it and link! I think Mountain Rose Herbs might be in there!

Anyway, add whatever you like. We're just glad to have you!

I hope you don't mind if I add: Mountain Rose Herbs (where I tend to buy most of my herbs from) - It's an online store, but they have quite a bit of information and recipes in there.
