Greetings! I have never made soap but I'm thinking it's time to give it a go. I'd like to hang out here and learn as much as I can before I take the plunge. I have some books on soap making but there's nothing like learning from people who are actually doing it. Most of the time, the books don't tell you what can go wrong, and what happens if it does. Only experience can tell you that. :)

Hello to all, I am happy to have found this group. In the past I made some soaps. Some were good, others not so. Hope to find here tips to fix my mistakes made with previous batches.

MM everyone,Im glad to have found this group. I just made my first soap. It was a goldenseal soap for a friend with skin problems. While it was exciting( and amazinly works) it was an almost disaster. Forgot to pack it in the mold so it fell apart lol.Any ways hopefully I'll find some tips on here.

Okay, located it. :) (About time for me to start a fresh batch anyways, so I dug out my Lye. Arrow's Bulls Eye Lye. Distributed by Arrow Wholesale Co. Inc. And from the back of the 2lb container. Arrow's Bulls Eye Lye Crystal Drain Opener is 100% sodium hydroxide (Caustic soda). Anyways, it works great every time I have used it. Hope this helps since Red Devil no longer caries Lye.
