Parenting Pagans

Sometimes being a Pagan Parent is hard. We have different holidays and we are not always respected in our children's school. Tell me your story.

Hi *waves wildly* I'm a mom to a 2 year old, I want her to have a foundation in religion and at first I went back to church but it wasn't me so I've decided with my husband's permission to give her a Pagan foundation and then let her make her own decisions when she's older.  I'll introduce her to as many religions I can so she knows that there is more out there but for right now I'm going to start with what is closest to home.  Turning to yall for your wisdom.  MM & BB

I'm a mom of a beautiful 1 year old daughter and my fiancee and I will soon be trying to for baby #2. We are first time parents and first generation Pagans so we'd love to meet other parents and get any advice and activities for raising our kids Pagan

so I'm a mother of 3 and "Grammy" to one of the most beautiful baby girls ever! Hubby is catholic and I was raised pagan, we support each others beliefs and we share both with the children and allow them to chose their own life path. Needless to say, we have some fun dinner debates!!!

Hope to get to know everyone and have a laugh or two in the journey of parenthood!!

just joining the group and glad to find it!!! our home truly is a cornucopia of diversity in beliefs and paths.. i am an openly prcticing pagan mother of three..my oldest attends the COC (church of christ) faithfully, my middle is a full time methodist,,my youngest an evolutionist and my spouse an atheist... Needless to say we all have learned tolerance, understanding and respect for each persons right to their belief and i support them all on their walk in life..My friends laugh and say they all love coming to my house because on any given day there is some sort of holiday taking place ..whether it be a christian christmas, celebration of Samhain or a cake made in rememberance of the theory of evolution..something is always happening..But at the end of the day the five of us can sit down hug smile and love each other and say..it may be crazy but atleast its our crazy!!!

Howdy! I have a 6 year old boy, an 8 year old girl, and a 10 year old boy. While I haven't started formal instruction yet, we do celebrate the holidays and I'm raising them to be good little heathens. The way I usually handle the issue of public/private is by telling the kids that there are "Wizard folk" and "Church folk". Since most of their relatives are "Church folk", it's important that they be respectful of their beliefs and not upset them -- and "Church folk" can sometimes mis-understand about "Wizard folk", so those things should be kept Private. While I'm fully out of the broom closet, the last thing I want is my kids to get kicked around for reasons they don't understand, so we keep our "Wizard identities" private (but not Secret -- there's a difference). My wife isn't Pagan, although she's supportive. But that has worked pretty well for us so far. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Does anyone have any ideas for a coming of age ceremony for girls. My daughter is 8 and starting to go through life changes. The women in my family have always been early bloomers. I want her to understand her body and the changes she'll go through. I don't want her to see it as a curse, but as a gift that gives the abilty to bring forth life. any suggestions would be welcome.
