That's a very good question! The type of yeast makes a big difference. Some supply stores online actually sell 'mead yeast' but most use a champaigne yeast. If you want it to be sweeter, you can always toss in a campden tablet to stop the fermentation before it becomes dry.

Merry Meet!

I have crafted mead and wine. My partner makes beer. I am really looking to make a sweeter mead. The last batch was a little dry to my taste. Used a Lavlin yeast blend. I have finally tracked down a local bee keeper and am able to get my honey. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it the honey ratio? Do I need to use a champagne yeast? I am in the learn as you go group. And I keep breaking my hydrometer.

Hey Keeper! Glad that you joined us! Is that a pic of mead that you have made? It looks good and clear. I'm fairly new to Mead as I usually brew different styles of ales. I want to make a dry mead like champagne, but I don't want my bottles to explode! lol

I'm not much of a brewer but I know what a good drop tastes like lol specially after a hard day in th garden lol
