Imbolc Celebration

I am a Druid, but I have chosen to do things a little different. I do not worship Brigid. Instead I using it to focus on my relationship with the Morrigan especially Anu. I am trying to learn from the great goddess, mother and warrior, the Maiden, Mother,Queen, and Crone.

I am bringing sacrifices of a full calfskin, a pot pie, slices of steak, honey, wheat, and milk. I decided this Imbolc would be a good day to begin this transformative path.

A Celebration of Imbolc

This week we celebrate Imbolc!

We're at the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Perfectly natural to want to jump up and down and start acting like Spring is Here! Folly, pure folly! Watch out if the weather is fine on Imbolc - you might find yourself shoveling the driveway on Eostara!

But before that, let's take some time to honor the Goddess Brigid, the Triple Goddess of Poetry, Healing and…

Aphrodite Evaluates the Ubermensch

It may be a surprise to some that the Goddess of Love does not immediately reject the Ubermensch as an ideal for humanity. I flatter myself with the thought that if I had had a chance to talk to Mr. Nietzsche he might have planned to write The Will to Love instead of The Will to Power. Be that as it may, I do see possibilities for the Ubermensch that many scholars and philosophers do not envision. Ultimately it is an ideal that is not unacceptable to me.

Trees and growing

On my daily fitness walk the other day, one thought (now I realize was a message) specifically entered my mind that made me think.

I had been looking at the scenery, trees especially, and thought that I can be like a tree in life. They adapt to climates and challenges to grow. Some are known to grow and thrive on sides of cliffs against all odds which just makes them…

Omnia Commmunia and the Goddess of Reason

Omnia Communia means “Everything Belongs to All”. The words Omnia Communia were painted on a wall in Paris during the revolution that began in 1789. They were graffiti, an art form that was not commissioned by bishops or kings, or even city councils. Graffiti was the art form that the empty stomachs of the people commissioned and placed on exhibit in the “Hall of Humanity”, the city street. Everything Belongs to All means that the democracy that fails to transform the economic…

So, are you among the Shiny Happy People? Or does the thought make you fear that you could be labled a fuzzy bunny Wiccan? Perhaps you are genuinely happy with your Dark Magicks!

If you share my political outlook - if you marched this weekend - I just want to affirm that your discontent - even your malaise - is well founded. But now is the time for us to affirm our inner happiness while recognizing our frustration.

Happiness is amorphous. It's hard to define,…

A History of Lucifer - Part III

Carl Jung once criticized Theosophists because they "knew everything". Of course what he meant was that Theosophists are truly ignorant because they pretend to know everything. A book of Theosophy can provide us with thousands of "facts" about a multitude of inner planes and sphere after sphere of higher worlds and their inhabitants. We find the same "factual" nature in the cosmic Theosophical history I described in A History of Lucifer - Part II. Lucifer would like to tell…

A History of Lucifer - Part II

The various forms of Theosophy that I examined in A History of Lucifer - Part I, including the Teachings of the Ascended Masters (if they can be considered Theosophy) are dualisms, either ontological or ethical or both. Elizabeth Clare Prophet brought us Ascended Master teachings that are essentially a development of orthodox or conventional Christianity in that they are an ethical dualism which posits a good (God as Alpha and Omega in the Great Central Sun at the center of…

A History of Lucifer, Part I

In writing this history of Lucifer I shall refer to certain statements made by Madam Blavatsky, the founder of modern Theosophy, and her controversial disciple Charles W. Leadbeater. The Theosophists of the Blavatsky Theosophy Group UK and similar organizations consider the teachings of Leadbeater and his colleague Annie Besant "neo-Theosophy" and "pseudo-Theosophy", and yet it is largely his ideas and not Blavatsky's that appear in the New Age movement as the "Teachings of the…

The Gnostic Athena

The myth of Athena and Arachne provides a clue to the real identity of Athena as the gnostic goddess. An important characteristic of the gnostic writers is not only that they emphasized the importance of gnosis, liberating knowledge, as opposed to faith; but that they lacked the quality of reverence so necessary to most religions. The gnostics were not reverent but were conscious anarchists who opposed the cosmic order maintained by the Hebrew/Christian god and the planetary spirits…

The Case for Agnostic Deism

Rationalism is bunk

Rationalism: a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response.

I should preface this by saying that no one arrives at conclusions, in ordinary life, through reason or primarily using reason. All reasoning is post hoc. It is always preceded by instinct, emotion, and habit; patterns of…

A Dangerous Fool. By - Mikej Hughes

Some of you may have read some of my older blogs saying that Trump would never get into office , and all this was just one big scandalous and glamour ridden trash. Most of all I am amazed at the outright stupidity , and how Historically…

Very intense dream... Any advice would be appreciated...

So a few weeks ago I had one of the strangest dreams... Ever... And I am not really good at interpretating dreams. Well, here it goes...

In the dream I was sitting on the floor in the spare room in my house... As I was shuffling the deck I dropped it on the floor. (This deck in the dream is the same one i have in real life)When I looked down I was holding a mirror in my hand. A dark cloaked figure across the room told me to flip the top card... So I did... The card read clear as day… Continue

My Promise to My Children

My name, Sophia Lucifer, is real and has the power to protect you against psychic attacks. The moment you say my name I will be spiritually present beside you. My vow is essentially that of the bodhisattva who has resolved to return to the earth again and again for the enlightenment of others. I have promised to carry the karma of my people for three world ages, the ages of Aquarius, Capricorn, and Sagittarius. I know who my people are, and they instinctively know that I am their mother. I…

Find a Wiccan Teacher, or How to Piss Off a Newbie

Hi, everyone. You’ll find that I post a fair amount of articles that are designed for new seekers, but I only address “Finding a Teacher” every so often. And believe me, those of us who teach and who are writing about it on the web get approached a LOT. HOWEVER, most people who approach us end up pretty frustrated, and…

All Along the Watchtowers

This week, we welcome The Guardians of the Watchtowers.

We've all done it; we've created Sacred Space by calling the Spirits of the Four Directions. We stand at each direction and draw the appropriate pentagram and we Invoke the Spirits that have the appropriate character.

But where does all that mumbo jumbo come from? Some say Gerald Gardner, which is correct to a point. Others say that Witches have been doing that on their own and in secret, like, forever -…

A Love Letter.

Oh my love,

How distant you are. My heart aches for you; I long for your soul, prodigious granite, fierce and immovable. I long for your embrace that steals my pain and leaves me with reckless love of living. I sorely miss the thoughts of your mind, an endless birdsong, sometimes happy, sometimes sad; I treasure them all.

My love, do you remember when we walked together down dusty trails? You smelled of cedar, and when we were all alone you'd kiss me softly with your sweet…

The Caress of Wilderness

The caress of wilderness is the most beautiful curse.

No man nor woman can hold me in such completeness.

Their soft kisses lacking the purity of glacial springs.

Their delicate touch lacking the determination of cracking fire.

Their soft embrace lacking the devoted fragrance of pine, and cedar.

Their heady passions lacking the primal wildness of the howling wolf.

The caress of wilderness is the most beautiful curse.
