A Queer Goes to Hel: Winternights reflections by a gay trans man

With it being Winternights (Samhain) here in the southern hemisphere, I thought I’d start my first blog post pondering my relationship with the Queen of the Dead.

I’ve sometimes wondered if I’m simply drawn to things that people don’t want to acknowledge. Which seems totally fair, since to the world at large I am one of them. As a neurodivergent gay man with a vagina, my very existence is subversive and considered too controversial for primary school students. It should come…

This morning I was putting my makeup on quietly in my bathroom. On the wall over my toilet I have 2 x 8x10 pictures hanging that I made. With red paper background and lace covers under the glass. They hang securely on picture hanging hooks which the picture mount fits tightly on. There is no way these should fall down off the wall. But..not just one..both pretty much flew off the wall..missing the ceramic toilet bowl..nothing broke..both hangers stayed on wall and back of frame still…

Dandelion Cream!

Hey guys!  Check out the dandelion hand-moisturizer that I whipped up this afternoon!  I harvested two cups of large dandelion blossoms, as well as whatever violet blossoms that I happened to spy, and using a double-boiler I used a heat-infusion method to infuse the phytochemicals of the dried dandelions with about a Tablespoon of dried calendula petals fried from my…

Masons and muslim singles!

Been awhile since I"ve been on here.

Since I've been gone, I've become a Freemason and recently joined the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis and am now a Rosicrucian (though quite the neophyte).

I'm serious about advancing my occult study and I can feel some of the reward already. I look at my blind religious friends with a bit of pity.

Why the hell is this website giving me Muslim Singles ads? I refuse to get my…

Blessed Beltane!

This week, we celebrate Beltane! Beltane is happening on Sunday, the first of May! It's a festival of Fertility and Love as we welcome the flowering of Nature's Return. In our mythology Beltane represents the Mating of the Goddess and the God. It's The Original White Wedding!

So, we'll talk in more detail about the meaning and significance of May Day from our earliest history. Plus we'll talk about the mythologies and customs that are traditionally associated with Beltane. And, while…

Curses; Ethical or Not ?

This is a subject near and dear to my heart. I have been a witch for only four years, and i continually hear this debate. To curse or not to curse is a much argued topic among us, and i thought i'd put my two cents in.

Personally, i am not opposed to cursing people who have done harm to my family or friends. Lady Karma has a habit of taking far too long to give the people what they gave back, and i feel that a proactive approach is a good idea.

However, i can understand why some… Continue

Spring Cleaning

Have you done any Spring Cleaning yet? It's time we Hop to It!

The idea of Spring Cleaning actually goes all the way back to ancient Egypt. We'll take a look at why Spring has become the time when we Clean House.

And, while House Cleaning IS TERRIBLY, BORINGLY mundane, it does have magickal implications, and so we'll talk about some ways we can bring our Magick into our chores in some very powerful ways.

While we're clearing out our attics, let's look for Crafty…

The Old Gods, or New?

I was doing a little reading last night about shamanism:

[And just so you know, I will likely never get into the verbiage-ethics of the use of the word shamanism as it applies to the spiritual practice of awareness/traveling to realms not so bound by our physical natures. This unending debate is steeped in opinions about cultural misappropriation, appropriate language, and clear communication. Until we can agree upon a term that relates the general practices, we're stuck with the…

Books for Pagan teens

These are not books written specifically for teenagers. I know as a teenage Pagan I would have resisted anything aimed at me in preference for getting my hands on the proper grown-up stuff. My criteria for suggesting these books are as follows. 1) I think my teenage self would have appreciated them. 2) They are genuinely good sources of information. 3) They are unlikely to get a person out of their depth or otherwise into trouble. 4) I would be happy to have my teenage son read…

Spring Visions

I'm dedicating this weeks show to one of the Five Cardinal Elements, the Element of Air. It's a good topic for April because, by many traditions, Air is associated with Springtime and Day's Beginning.

Usually associated with Men's Mysteries, Air is most often thought of as on the Mental Plane.

The Romans gave the month of April it's name, which they called, Aprilis. For the Romans, it signifies a time of unfolding leaves and flowers.

So we'll take a look at the Season of…

pen pals, texting buddies, and introspection

I love my path. It is how i express my soul sometimes. But at the same time it can feel really confusing and dark (not evil more like running into things in the dark) . I really do wish that i could find the community that some of the lucky have found. I have recently been looking into a coven that is close to me, but they can seem almost frigid. I understand they need to be as careful as i do when meeting new people, but so far its been business emails about an appointment time for me to…

An old journal entry that I liked "three-a-em"

three a-em

At 3AM in the morning, I find myself laying in the bed with the thoughts of the day running through my head. Suddenly, some old annoying thoughts enter. Thoughts about faith, religions past, present, and future, god, people, and the cosmos. I formally left the Christian "faith" several years ago, and last night I finally had to come to the realization that I am in a similar lull with my current practice. Or am I?…

British Shamanism

There have been people in the British Isles for a long time. People who raised standing stones and barrows, about whom we know very little. We know more about the later Celts, but as they didn’t leave their own records, most of what we know about pre-Christian spirituality, we have to infer – from archaeology, from other people’s histories, or from our own…
