Scrying Using the Black Mirror
by Katlyn Breene
The following excerpt comes from a book-length work on scrying and magick mirrors.
The black scrying mirror, or magick mirror, is a powerful psychic tool. It can bring the user hidden knowledge and clairvoyant ability and can act as a portal to other planes of existence. History shows its use in many of the traditional mystery schools and oracular temples. Today the serious student of magickal arts can… Continue

"those who are awake", The Elders, the ancient race of the watchers of the heavens
Also known as the Guardians, The Elder Race, Nephelim and Fallen Angels. The concept of The Watchers dates back to Sumer, but I believe the roots of this race are being traced back even farther to a cataclysmic time in our ancient past. Some people believe The Watchers are a race of people that came from the stars, hence why they are called The Watchers, because they watch the 'heavens'. The watchers… Continue

"You want to know who's a real medicine man? He's the one who doesn't say 'I'm a medicine man.' He doesn't ask you to come to him. You've got to go and ask him. And you'll find he's always there among his own people."
--Louis Farmer, ONONDAGA
The Medicine Man is a role model of what it is like to live in harmony and balance with the Creator. It takes a long time, a lot of sacrifice and discipline to become a Medicine Man. A Medicine Man is humble and never crass about… Continue

On this day, the Lammas Sabbat is celebrated by Wiccans and Witches throughout the world. Lammas (which is also known as Lughnasadh, August Eve, and the First Festival of Harvest) marks the start of the harvest season and is a time when the fertility aspect of the sacred union of the Goddess and Horned God is honored. The making of corn dollies (small figures fashioned from braided straw) is a centuries-old Pagan custom which is carried on by many modern Witches as part of the… Continue

The seasons are fast upon me and I feel like I am racing to catch up. Lammas, already! I have been waking at sunrise each day, and after my workings, ambling over to my bead table next to the southern windows that look out on my city streets as the day starts off, one communter, one office worker at a time. I set the semi-precious stones in patterns that I like, today it was jade cubes, Aptatie heshis and small pearls, making two twining strands.
They entwinded like the tendriles of… Continue

In the mirror of your mind all kinds of
pictures appear and disappear.
Knowing that they are entirely your own creations,
watch them silently come and go.
Be alert, but not perturbed.
This attitude of silent… Continue

In Nova Scotia, this day is sacred to the Micmac Indian tribe. It is believed that all those who are wed or christened at this time will be blessed with happiness and good health by the Great Spirits. Saint Ann (the Mother Goddess) and Gloosca (the Father God) are honored.

Not Everybody Will Like You
It is not necessarily a pleasant experience, but there will be times in our lives when we come across people who do not like us. As we know, like attracts like, so usually when they don’t like us it is because they are not like us. Rather than taking it personally, we can let them be who they are, accepting that each of us is allowed to have different perspectives and opinions. When we give others that freedom, we claim it for ourselves as well, releasing… Continue

Since this is the only blogging site that my mother has not joined I may be able to safely blog for a while. I love her dearly it is just that she seems to find it fun to tell everyone that I am Wiccan. Everyone knows the Witch's Pyramid To Dare, To Will and To Be Silent. Well she just doesn't seem to understand the silent part. She tells everyone about me, friends, family even the occasional stranger. It just seems so intrusive that she would do that. It really gets on my nerves. I understand… Continue

Well, we are home after putting our first ever Chrysalis Moon festival and let me tell you...It was absolutely fantabulous! The energy on the Our Haven site was beautiful; Monty the site owner and his "Fire Tenders" went above and beyond anything we could have ever imagined. The site really does feel like coming home. Every morning we had a keynote speaker and an "Herb Blurb". What a way to start our day! Although some days were HOT HOT HOT we all worked together and got through them. The guest… Continue

This is so off topic for pagan space. Go see that movie. Best batman movie ever.
I don't care what you think about Heath Ledger in other movies, this is his best role. He should win a Oscar for it. Simply epic, is his performance. I'm so obsessed with the Joker now from that movie, it's crazy. I have grown respect for Ledger as well. And Jack Nicholson just can't even compare to the greatness of Ledger as the Joker. He was one of the characters that totally made

For much of my journey so far, I’ve been a solitary witch. To those who don’t know me (most of you), this doesn’t seem very strange. From the looks of things, one can say that many witches prefer the solitary lifestyle. For those few of you who do get to know me, you will soon realize that I am, in no such way, a solitary person by nature. I love being around people of all walks of life. I need to feel connected to the world around me, be it a random act of kindness or insufferable feud between… Continue

Runes can be used successfully in shamanic practices and spiritual journeying. Beyond the small rune stones that fit into one's hands, runes are little bits of focused energy that exist within all things. To access this energy, we just need to change our focus, call upon the runes (by name) and surrender ourselves to their energetic influence.
There are three runes that work together to alter one's spiritual being into a shamanic state:…

Was it a dream?
I have been reading about and studying the Kabbalah/Qabalah for quite some time now. I look at the tree of life and see the shape, many paths, the Sephirot. Then I have this dream or was it a vision? I see the creation of the universe. At the moment of creation the tree of life is created and it becomes a metal construct. I can hear the metal as in steel girders clanging together as they connect. They are in the shape of the tree of life but there are many and they… Continue

Feather and Shell Magic
In natural magic feathers are used in spells and ceremonies to promote change. They are used as catalysts to help focus concentration while carrying out spells and wishes.
The medicine bag, also called power pouch or sachet, often includes special feathers which have meaning to the wearer and help attracting good luck as well as driving away bad things.
