And so it begins...RIP Paganspace

Since Business announced his intent to transfer this forum to a new platform, there has been a lot of conjecture as to what form it will take, where and when. I know quite a few of the friends I have made over the scant two weeks plus I have been here have been more than upset about it, including my own misgivings after having spoken to Business in a private message.

And now today he has announced in a status post that we are "currently" changing over.

For whatever time we have…

A Lammas Celebration

It's Lammas, or Lughnasadh, the Sabbat where many Wiccans and Pagans celebrate the beginnings of the harvest. This Sabbat is about the cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth -- the grain god dies, but will be reborn again in the spring.

Depending on your tradition, you may also observe this Sabbat as the day of the Celtic craftsman god, Lugh. Lugh was known to the Celts as a god of craftsmanship and skill -- in fact, he was known as the Many-Skilled God, because he was good…

The Religion of Sol Invictus

The Roman Emperor Aurelian made the cult of Sol Invictus, the Unconquered Sun God, the primary religion of the empire in 274 CE. Sol did not replace the many deities of the Roman pantheon, but served as a single point of devotion for a people that had recently entered the Age of Pisces, and therefore needed a God.

A scholar whose name I do not remember once remarked that the Sun God had for millennia been mankind’s…

Holy Rice Neck Cooler/Warmer

I keep offerings of rice, salt, and water on my altar. I replace the salt and rice every week and try and replace the water daily (I don't always remember...) anyway this "used" salt goes into my magick cooking, mostly bone broth at this point, and I was planning on eventually cooking the rice but never got around to it. Now I know why!

With the summer's insane heat this year I was trying to think of ways to keep cool and remembered that an old neck warmer I…

Letter to Pagan Parents (Humor)

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, I write this letter in concern of your daughter, Aradia Moon. Please don't take this the wrong way, however, although she is a straight A student and a very bright child, she has some strange habits that I feel we should address.

Every morning before class, she insists on walking around the classroom with her pencil held in the air. She says she is "drawing down the moon." I told her Art Class is in an hour and to please refrain from then to do any…

The Origin of the Handshake

Most people do not think much about the handshake or its divine origin. The god Mithra used it to ratify his contracts. The name “Mithra” (Persian) or “Mitra” (Vedic) or “Mithras” (Roman) means contract or oath, and also friend. In the first picture below Mithra (with the crown of solar rays) concludes a contract (i.e. a mutual understanding between friends) with Mithradates, a ruler of Commagene in modern Turkey. In the second picture Mithradates shakes hands…

The Myth of Aphrodite and Adonis: A Story for Girls at the Age of Puberty

The word “myth” has a number of meanings, and myth has, potentially, a number of purposes. The meaning that does not concern us is “falsehood”---we do not, anymore, think that myth is less valuable because it lacks physical reality. It does not matter whether or not Aphrodite and Adonis actually existed or still exist, or whether, in some remote past, Adonis did or did not die at the hands of Aphrodite’s jealous husband. The myth of Aphrodite and Adonis…

I've bought several decks from Kickstarter and Indiegogo. There's nothing currently funding on IGG, but Kickstarter has several decks. These are some of the ones currently running. If I had unlimited funds I'd probably pick up the 5-Cent Tarot and the Cosmic Cycles.

The True Nature of Hellfire in the Qur’an

Elizabeth Clare Prophet does not immediately come to mind when we think of Islam, and she, for her part, has little to say about Islam. Her body of work, the “Teachings of the Ascended Masters”, is derived not only from the Masters themselves, but from her profoundly Christian sensibility. Indeed, she is Christian to a fault, and the messages of the Buddha, Master Kung (Confucius) and other eastern teachers and saints sound too much like those of Mother Mary…

A beautiful soul in every sense of the word

I cried buckets when I saw this...and I can't stop seeing this.

One of the best comments on it was this, "I think Mr. Rogers would be one of the humans on earth who would’ve been worthy to lift Thor’s hammer."

One cell in the nucleus of creation resounding with the flow of god either in mistaken legacy or an integral force flowing with one body of the all is a being operating off cosmic force of not just one celestial body but all seeing the true nature of creation being one family encompassed in the body of god aka everything not one thing but all

All sacred books begin with an account of physical creation, the culmination of which, is the appearance of man and woman, as…

god morning with bbk

God morning
Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. — Titus 2:2
Pappa, give us wisdom, patience, and respect in your family so that we value everybody and listen to the voices of character and maturity regardless of physical age so that we are open to hearing and sharing your truth no matter who you bring to us. And so I pray. Amen.

A Different Story about the Conception of Jesus

It is a matter of historically verifiable fact that in the first centuries of the Christian era, until the Council of Ephesus in 431 CE, the questionable circumstances surrounding the conception of Jesus were the cause of much embarrassment to Christians seeking converts to their new faith. Pagan Greeks and Romans were quick to observe that the new Christian religion promulgated strict standards of sexual morality while the Savior himself was the product of an…
