Dodging a wildfire

My parents were evacuated Sunday from their house outside of Payson, due to a wildfire that started less than 1 mile away. The fire got to within 1/4 mile before the wind shifted. Scary, as if the wind picks up it could restart in their direction again. Glad I cut the low branches and brush this spring, hope it is enough. Color me anxious!

What's Wrong With Me?

What's Wrong with Me?

How many times have you asked yourself that question?

When you are feeling down because of something negative going on in your life.. maybe it was a friend who betrayed you… maybe it was a partner who ignored you… maybe it was a boss that never gave you credit for a job well done. Whatever it was, it made you feel worthless and down. That same question would come to mind… “what is wrong with me?” You would then go over and over in your head what you… Continue

Just not a good year for the monsoon

It started out briefly with a bang, but it has fizzled out it a BIG way. We're over 2'' short of rainfall, this year, so far.(which is HUGE for the desert) I can see it in the desert enviroment around me. Everything looks so stressed.

All indications, from the National Weather Service early on in the year, was a "wetter than normal" season. Until El Ninio formed late. (the warm currents in the pacific ocean, off the mexican coast) Because it formed late this year it fizzled out the… Continue

The Fall!

The weather here has been absolutely lovely. You can smell in the air that Autumn is just around the corner. I love the cool breezes and all that vibrant hues of amber, orange, and red. I love the way the earth smells, and the way all the animals scurry to get their work done before the first snowfall. I am so glad that its just around the corner.

my rant....

This is just a rant of mine that I typed sometime ago when I was mad about something or other, cuz that’s just what I do when I get up set I write or type. Most of the time I type/write about something completely different than what im mad about. something off topic, odd, yes but it gets my minds off of what im bothered by and gets things off my chest about other things that do or have bothered me in the past. Kind of a “kill two birds with one stone” type deal. So this is just anger and my… Continue

So frustrating

this is my own little rant sorry :)

so im watching a show on tv called the haunting (not sure if anyone has seen it but it can be entertainging at times) and this episode is about a women who started practicing wicca and her son who is christian. he is 'worried' about her worshiping the devil and other things that i am getting very offended by. i dont personally practice wicca but all of us know that this is not what wicca is about. i still feel as though paganism as a whole is very… Continue

I've Come To Realize....

After going through a crap load of information last night on different religions and Paths of the world, I've come to realize a few things.

1) Although they may be completely different in nature, they are all the same. If you compare the stories and such, they are almost identical

2) Because of the previous conclusion, I believe every religion is given to a people by God (or whatever you like to call "IT"). I think they are all so "different" because for example: if… Continue

Sunny Citrine

As bright and sunny as the hot August days Citrine calls to a person’s soul. The energies of Citrine resonate with the Sun, and carry the proper vibrations to be used to relieve nightmares; this is done by wearing it or placing it under a pillow at night to remove fear, prevent nightmares and to ensure a good night’s rest.

Citrine is a member of the quartz family and can be used to increase psychic awareness as well. With its sunny yellow to deep golden brown color Citrine is a powerful… Continue

is an interesting and important stone, high in iron content there are two types of Hematite- Magnetic and non- magnetic, its folk name is volcano spit.

There is some discrepancy in folklore regarding Hematite as this name was once used for the stone we now know as Bloodstone. However the modern pagan society has found a multitude of uses for this shiny black stone. Hematite is said to have masculine/projective energy and is associated with Fire and Saturn.

This heavy, solid and… Continue

Dragon’s Blood

Dragon’s Blood is the name given to a resin collected from a number of different trees. The most common source of Dragon’s Blood is the rattan palm in Indonesia; this hardened red resin encases the unripe fruit. However it is also collected from Daemonorops draco, D. propenquos, Creiton, Dracena Daemonorops, Calamus rotung and pterocarpus though most of the time there is no specific way of knowing which plant specifically the resin comes from as all types are labeled as “Dragon’s Blood”. In… Continue

Raspberries and their magical uses

The Raspberry bramble will draw the eye and the imagination if you happen to catch it growing wild. This wonderful and tasty plant has an air of mystery about it. Its white flowers and crimson fruit beckon to a person, even as the pointy thorns warn you away. Generally growing in temperate climates it is thought to be native to Asia and Europe though it grows wild through out the world, including on the isles of Hawaii. Its leaves can be collected… Continue

School and life in general

So, my first week of college has gone by and I am exhausted and full of information. Most of you don't know, but I have entered a therapeutic massage program at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC for short). It is amazing thus far although it's such a shock because I have been out of school for a few years and am having a hard time adjusting to my new schedule and how much time I need to spend reading and taking notes. It's only a nine month course so everything is condensed and goes… Continue

Dragons In Heraldry (2)

Beasts were common in heraldry, with dragons occurring as often as birds. Considered to be valiant, dragons symbolized “fierce protectors of the family.” Also, they often meant “the guardians of treasure”. Some other meanings for dragons were “fierce warrior” and “overcoming one’s enemies”.

Several types of dragons were used on shields. The most common in England was the wyvern. For the English, four-legged dragons were a later development, adopted in the 15 Century. Meanwhile, in… Continue

From the Vision Quest Deck...

Everything in life has a beginning, middle and an end. So to be done with something you have to go all the way through it first before it is truly finished.

It's not as if you can start something .. say Oh I don't like taht and then end it .. if only it were that easy. You must go all the way through it to see the end. It may be painful, it may be hard ... but when it… Continue

Good morning

It is amazing to me to see how life evolves yet stands still. It seems to only change just in the eyes of those who are paying close attention. To those of us who incorporate mother earth into our daily lives, we can see the subtle changes...the grass just doesn't seem to grow as quickly as before. Or their just doesn't seem to be as many birds singing their beautiful songs. Is this so that we will take notice, and pay attention? Or is it just because life is evolving?

Oddly… Continue
