What if poltergeist activity happens even with angsty adults?

I've been experiencing poltergeist activity and I am 30 years old.

I just did a tarot reading to see if there was a ghost in my house and it talked about feeling spiritually disconnected. Loss of hope. Lack of self-esteem. Here, I'll just put the whole thing down here:

"Is there a ghost in my room?"

The card represents the critical factor for the issue at hand. Stars, when reversed: Loss of hope. Feeling disconnected from cosmic or universal energies. Failure to realize the highest potential of your situation. Being out of touch with your own creative powers. Lack of self-esteem. Your abilities going unrecognized. Being restrained from doing your own thing.

This fits me to a T. I think I might be considered angsty right now..

and it makes sense for poltergeists to be the cause of the strange happenings in my room. Plugs being completely pulled out of their sockets. The string to my lute being struck. My vape being turned on several times without me pressing the button. And I haven't sensed a presence in my room. and it only happens around me.

Could it be that when you're a very spiritual or energetic person stuck in a rut, your psychic energy lashes out and maybe even tries to get your attention? Regardless of age?

Maybe it just happens more often with teenagers because they're at an age where they are more likely to be in the state of mind that creates poltergeists.

Your views sound reasonable. Poltergeist activity is well documented by very reputable sources and first hand experiences like your own.

With poltergeists what you are dealing with are “monsters from the Id” as in the movie Forbidden Planet. After studying poltergeist activity, J. B. Rhine and his associates concluded that most cases are manifestations  of unconscious psychokinesis. In one case, involving a young boy and his Aunt, they observed, in the home, objects flying through the air by themselves and striking the Aunt. When they brought the Aunt and her Nephew into the lab, they observed the Nephew picking up objects and throwing them at his Aunt. When they questioned the Nephew, he completely denied throwing anything. When they put the Nephew on a lie detector, it turned out he was telling the truth.

William Roll and Robert Jahn associates of J. B. Rhine while researching the psycho-kinesis theory of poltergeist events suggested that:

“Things physically or emotionally closer to us are more important, generally, than things that are physically or emotionally far away, and when we focus our consciousness on an object close to us it may become charged, something along the lines of an electromagnetic charge” (1 p. 219).

With this in mind, we can conclude that something within the Nephew’s subconscious mind disliked his Aunt and wanted to throw objects at her. In their home, it was able to do this psychokinetically. Outside the home, it had to temporarily take over the Nephews body in order to manipulate objects. While it was in control, the child was not aware of what was going on, which is why he passed the lie detector test.

The mind is an ecosystem. Your body is not a monolithic structure but composed of living cells, a surprising large number of which don’t even have your DNA (i.e. gut bacteria, etc.).  The mind is also not a monolithic structure. It’s also composed of many pieces some of which are autonomous and some of which, like gut bacteria, are not technically you, but which you couldn’t do without.

Can an adult generate poltergeist activity? It’s rare, but sure, given sufficient stress or trauma. Jung’s initial encounter with synchronicity was a form of poltergeist triggered by an adult experiencing a psychotic break.

One other point. With psychokinesis, like synchronicity and magic, one does not actually move things with their mind, rather the mind convinces things to move themselves. It isn’t about force, but persuasion which is why it’s always things with which we have an emotionally connection.

Thanks so much for your answers! The items that were moved were all important to me. My vape, my vape charger, my CD player playing beautiful singing bowl music at the time, my lyre. So it DOES sound like poltergeist activity according to your definition, Medb St. Jerome.
