Life is Ever Evolving

I am trying to make more changes in my life, because, honestly, they are fun and challenging to do! The first big change was in the move. I had to let my daughter become an adult, something I had hoped, I would not face, so fast. She is now on her own, living with her boyfriend and my best friend. They are doing well, and she is paying bills, more than on time. She is excited over trying to buy her first car.
That was a huge change for me, not having her around. As we moved to the farm, other changes started happening. I recycle more, as I have to burn my own trash or haul it nearly 17 miles to the dump. I have learned to get creative with tin cans, and their uses after they are washed. I save our milk containers for my spring garden. I have learned that plastic trash and paper/food trash, go into separate bags, for easier disposal. I have learned that there is a lot more to do here, than there was in town.
One of the biggest changes has been in how I spend my time with my son. No more interruptions because of others in the house. I get to hear him practice his speech on his mini-tape recorder, and listen to the pieces of art he creates with words, by doing so. He is developing an amazing understanding of the world around him, as we discuss more about politics, natural living through diet and gardening, how he talks to me about his interests, and what we can learn from them. We talk more about everything, sharing our daily lives, well away from the chatter of town.
It has been peaceful, and he and I learn together. He does have things to teach me, and I see more of th world through his eyes, then I have done since he was a toddler. I am not distracted by the noise of the neighborhood, or the knocking on my door, or the phone calls when I am busy. Instead, I state plainly that I am working, and must go. I make our time together, learning and having fun crafting, much more important than the next crisis someone else expects me to fix for them. Instead, I am fixing what should be fixed, the relationship with my children, and making them stronger.

I have always been he fixer, the ones others turn to in need, and now, I have more ability to say no. I love that, I love that I can just say no. Gone are the days of the revolving door of my home. It is now replaced with a deadbolt and an unanswered phone if I am working on something for school with my son. Dang, it feels great!!

Doing Fine, just keeping up with ourselves

Well, I have now been to Vernal, where Tom works, and it is so pretty here. I never thought I would like the high desert, but it is actually intellectually stimulating with it's rich history, the petroglyphs, the people. I am adjusting to once again, living in a travel trailer, as we are now considered migratory workers. The park he is staying it, is pleasant, and the owners are sweet. Cullen is doing great with his schooling, and I am finally getting my teeth worked on in November. Yay,…

New Beginnings, Once Again

Posted on July 19, 2011 at 2:04pm 1 Comment

Well, our time in North Dakota came to an abrupt end. After I went back to our house in South Dakota, to take care of business, I came down to Utah, to register a truck that we had borrowed. While here, my friend, Colleen, had had a total knee replacement, and needed help with her physical therapy. I called my husband and told him I needed to stay a little longer, to help her along. About three weeks into my being here, I had a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), or a Mini-stroke. I was rushed to… Continue

Giggling all the way to a great life!

Posted on March 26, 2011 at 1:55am 0 Comments

Wow, I am back at our little house in town, for a few weeks, to take care of business and see my daughter. I spent nearly four months in harder winter conditions, than what we were living in while in South Dakota, and guess what?  I loved it! Though, I do have to say that every time I tried to come home, the Goddess saw fit to ensure that the roads were shut and the conditions were too bad to be driving in, basically telling me that there was a reason I was to wait to go home.

Well,…

Just an Update

Update on North Dakota.Well, we have been here now, since November 15th. I am heading back home in March, for a couple of weeks. I have things to take care of at home, namely the house business. We are still waiting on a court date with the judge, to decide, finally, what we will do. After two years of fighting, we are tired, and just hopeful that we will have a resolution.North Dakota is beautiful! We are in the Bad Lands, near the Montana border.  We do our grocery shopping in Montana. There… Continue
