Holy Rice Neck Cooler/Warmer

I keep offerings of rice, salt, and water on my altar. I replace the salt and rice every week and try and replace the water daily (I don't always remember...) anyway this "used" salt goes into my magick cooking, mostly bone broth at this point, and I was planning on eventually cooking the rice but never got around to it. Now I know why! With the summer's insane heat this year I was trying to think of ways to keep cool and remembered that an old neck warmer I used to have could also be used as a…See More

Language Learning as Devotion?

As I mentioned in a blog post I made a moment ago...I am studying Japanese. And I would personally recommend a similar discipline of any individual honoring gods primarily of another culture.Language expresses ways of thinking that can often be different between groups of people and are often difficult to translate directly. So though gods and spirits are not limited by human language, it would behoove us to try and see the world, at least partially, in the way the original practicers of the…See More

Religion, Culture, and Language

Posted on July 22, 2019 at 10:55pm 4 Comments

One of the greatest things about this era is that, in many ways, we are already a global people. The invention of the printing press and world travelers allowed books and papers to be published even before the internet. Books and papers that would allow an individual in one culture to learn about and feel the call of the gods of another all-together different culture. The internet only made this exchange of information easier, and despite a lot of the things…

From There to Here: My Journey to Shinto and Japanese Occult practices

Posted on July 22, 2019 at 10:49pm 0 Comments

My passion, both secular and spiritual, as been focused around Japan for a very very long time. Even before I first branched out into polytheistic paganism I had a deep love of Japan. Just seeing pictures, even not very picturesque pictures, would sometimes make me tear up with a deep longing from my soul to go home to this place I had never been before. Even with all of its incredible faults (and believe me there are a LOT) I still found myself coming back…

My Body is a Temple: Health, Faith, and Magick

Posted on July 21, 2019 at 3:30pm 0 Comments

My body is a temple where my soul is enshrined.

This is one of my mantras. I use it to help me when I find being healthy to be particularly difficult or cumbersome. It's a concept that most on a pagan path, or honestly most religious paths, are familiar with. "Our bodies are gifts from the gods.", "Everything in the world is sacred, the forests, the oceans, even ourselves." So if this is true, and I hold…
