About Me:
TUATHA DEA!!! A Celtic/Pagan based tribal fusion drum ensemble takes it's name from Celtic mythology and the legends of the Tuatha de Danaan. The band uses only imported African drums, along with traditional instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboards, native american flute and classical flute to produce an original sound that meshes tribal, Celtic and modern music into a primal symphony. The band features 3 females and 4 males to create a truly eclectic balance. Originating in 2009 Tuatha Dea began as a group of family and close friends who came together to play in drum circles and other spiritual events. Soon there after the group began writing music and quickly evolved into a band plying multiple venues. To date the group has preformed at many Serpent Stone Gatherings, Pellissippi State University Irish Heritage Celebration, The Gatlinburg Highland Games, Knoxville's Fearie Masque Ball, Gatlinburg Town Square Fourth of July Celebration, and numerous Pub and social forums. The band was recently featured in the the St. Patrick's Day celebrations at the Preservation Pub in Knoxville for two years running . Scheduled now to perform at the Pagan Spirit Gathering in 2012, also for the second year, the band continues to grow and evolve. Our music ranges from the melodic tones of Aillien Duinn and Danny Boy to the primal pounding of Tuatha de Danaan to the bluesy vibe of Skye Boat. The group's first cd is currently in for sale and features a primarily Celtic vibe. Our 2nd album (Kith and Kin) is currently in press and will be released soon. Please see Tuatha Dea's facebook for updates and to review music. Our website up and running. Come visit us at www.tuathadea.com.

A Word Regarding Mavis....

For those who do not know, Tuatha Dea is family. Were we not a band of rag tag Minstrels we would still be spending the majority of our time together in some such dysfunctional fashion. The bonds of blood, love and common heritage make us more of a tribe than a band.

All families and Clans maintain a hierarchy of sorts whether it be literal or ceremonial and with us…
